sata ata power to "regular" HD power adapter?

ok, noob question... i have a video card that needs the "standard" power supply plug plugged into it... two of them actually... however, all i have left coming from my PSU (antec) is the SATA type of plugs... do they make adapter cables to convert from the flat style to the big-honkin 4-pin style?

pretty much of a psu noob here so any help would be great!

thanks!

hmm...... i was told i shouldn't use a Y adapter for a video card - aka, try to have direct feeds from the PSU... is that an old wive's tale?

I'm the wrong person to ask. I don't like Antec PSUs 🙂

If you use the right 12V rail, I don't see a problem. Just don't use the 12V rail that services the CPU.

I cut, splice, solder, then heat shrink all my PSU cabling, so if I do buy an adapter it is cut and fitted.

There are lubricant/conductant light oils sold that can/should be used on all pin connections, they really do drop resistance. Most will not use them. No unsoldered connection is made-up dry in my world. Even a tough of WD-40 from a Q-Tip is better than nothing. The best is ProGold at http://www.caig.com/

You'll be OK if you use the right rail.
