SATA Adapter - is it worth getting?

I hate to be a tightwad (this thing only cost about $35 CAN) but i was wondering if getting this kind of an adapter Link is worth it. Its supposed to Convert IDE devices to Serial ATA devices but has anyone tried using one of these? or a similar product? Is the diffrence from 133 to 150 noticable?

Actually, I noticed a huge increase in performance when using an adapter. It went way up to 65mb\s from 0 mb\s... Of course, I couldn't plug it in, because I only had 1 PATA connector.... I ended up getting an adapter w/ a red LED... then I decided that I liked the small sata cables, so I got another one, w/ a blue LED. Then I decided I liked the blue LED, so I got another one of the same kind to match. I think I lost the old red one.

What are you talking about? 0 mb/s... Are you telling me thats the technology we're on right now? it must have obviously been a problem, just using an adapter won't really increase speed... if anything, those adapters haven't sometimes caused a minor loss of speed. It is very little, only noticeable in HD specific benchmarks.

I dont think this parcticular model has an LED, but i doubt the color of the LED really makes a diffrenece in terms of speed. But thanks for the input.

i think he's getting at the fact sata was the only way for him to add another HD... he ran out of pata connectors.... at least that's how i read it.

and yeah, it's pointless unless you have an onboard sata controller and are short on pata conntectors for drives.

The only reason I would do this would be to keep every drive on their own channel. If you're not running more than 2 harddrives and don't need to expand, don't get it.
