So until this year, I've been doing poorly in all my classes and on all my tests. Last year, my SAT score was a 670, but this year it's an 800 after I retook it :)

...not that any of you care, but I'm psyched

What is it out of? 800? I thought it was 1600. I feel old.

Oh they came out with some stupid new tests called SAT2's that you have to take that are out of 800 and are on 1 subject. Just trying to rake in more cash...

afaik: SAT was out of 800 until 2002, then, it include the writing component, so the "perfect" score is now 1600 out of 1600.

SAT2 on the other hand, has always been out of 800.

Someone lied to you, your 800 wasn't the perfect score. It was 1600 and 2400 is the perfect score now.

I took SAT2s. I think I took math 2 and writing. HAHA it's so irrelevant looking back on it now. Kudos to you, OP

Ahhh the SATs, that was so long ago. If you have to take the GRE, they're practically of equal difficulty (except the subject GREs >> subject SAT IIs). It's sad that the General GRE is just as easy as the SAT

They're not 'new', they've been around for quite some time.
Most schools don't require them. Those that do take them usually want you to take 3, and generally from specific areas. In my case, I took math, physics, and literature.

Which one did you take? It's not impossible to get an 800 on them, but that's pretty good since the SAT2's are generally more on par with the general GRE exams (but not the subject specific ones) imo.
Actually, I see you took math. That's pretty good, I'm not sure if there's more than one SAT2 math or not, but I only got like a 670 or something when I took it. 690 for SAT math, and 710 for GRE. Main difficulty in the GREs is no calculator and a fairly strict time limit, so you have to be used to doing math quickly in your head/on paper.

GMAT was painfully easy. I can't believe top tier business schools even look at those scores.

Yeah back in late 1980's the score was still 1600 for perfect.

A good SAT score won't get you into the Ivy League. I think less and less emphasis is going to be placed on these tests.

That doesn't make a lot of sense. The tests are always the freaking gauntlet. Now they have 'rated' schools even. Testing is the make or break.

With the ivy league they are privy to inside info so start with test education which eventually trickles down until they rewrite the tests.

rinse, repeat.

Still the majority get into the ivy league at birth basically.

i showed my school my sat scores and they didn't even bother to look at anything else and gave me several scholarships, of course i probably was in the top 1% on both and sat and act for students at my school

St. Francis School for the Gifted isn't real selective.
