a 3-4hour test really isn't that bad after taking so many APs and such

QFT

Really, all you have to do is wake up at around 7ish, take some water and granola bars, and just focus.

I would beg to differ, a lot of it has to do with what your educational environment has taught you over the years.

Example: I am from Idaho and am in the top 10% of my state. I have won various national awards and competitions. I scored a 1750 on the SAT and that seems to be on the high end of the spectrum of everyone here. In perspective, no one from my school scored over a 2000, and we're considered one of the best schools in the state.

Looks like Idaho has a sh1tty educational system

I would beg to differ, a lot of it has to do with what your educational environment has taught you over the years.

Example: I am from Idaho and am in the top 50% of the nation. I have won various national awards and competitions. I scored a 1750 on the SAT and that seems to be on the high end of the spectrum of everyone here. In perspective, no one from my school scored over a 2000, and we're considered one of the best schools in the state.

congratulations, you're mediocre!

Yup! I also suspect that's why the majority of the people from here stay in Idaho. The rest of the nation is too competitive for the majority of the people from here to make it.

2 students out of my class of 100 are attending out of state, including myself (if I don't screw up). The other person scored a 1780~ and is going to Gonzaga.

Oh, and the number 1 ranked person in our class scored a 1730.

My plan is to raise my children in a better environment than I have been blessed with, so at least they have a chance at the top 20 schools, should they choose that path.

I've been wondering, what kind of score does it take to start getting some good scholarships?

SAT score doesn't matter without grades. I had really high SATs and a mediocre high school GPA and got nothin.

2400 isn't bad

Just make sure you miss 0 on math, no more than 1 on reading, and a perfect writing MC with at least 11 essay :p
