Taking the SAT next week, I've studied and pulled 1500's on my practice tests. Any tips on how to get the full 1600 or just SAT tips for people who have taken them. Thanks.

Remember that all questions are equally weighted. And never leave anything blank

I pulled off 800 in math in January but only 620 in English.

My only suggestion when you're going for absolute perfect is to think of where in the subsection the question is. In English, if it's question one, it's easy, so don't be too figurative. At the end, start looking into the questions that your scores obviously show you're able to. Don't do that on question one, though.

P.S. What schools you looking into? 1. Duke, 2. Harvard for me.

If you're pulling 1500's on practice tests, you should have no problem...just relax

MIT...

nothing against the school, but if you do anything but study, you'll probably get bored. I visited there last year, and it didn't seem like a school for... "rounded" people I guess. If that's what people want it's great for them, but I'd much rather have a school of people who do many different things.

P.S. To all you MIT people out there, I don't mean to be stereotypical or anything. That's just the impression I got from the visits I made there and the people I met.

That may be true, but the resources avaliable at MIT are incomparable.

i agree, don't stress. in high school i scored 1400s on all my practice tests and ended up with i 1430 b/c a felt no pressure. the case was different last fall when i took the LSAT...i had been prepping all summer and i kinda choked come test day....my score reflected that.

i visited MIT when i was applying for college. Not like i got in or anything, but like it seemed really uh quiet, and not very fun. like you go around campus, and its like NOTHING was going on.

anyways, the questions even the last ones arent THAT hard. justpace yourself, make sure you read everything correctly and if you are doing that well on your practice tests you should be able to pull mid 1500s.


i took like 3-4 practice ones but never got over high 1400s but i got better as i went along. t i got in the upper 1500s i think because i was relaxed and the questions didnt seem quite as hard onthe real one. if you go in all nervous and stuff, you'll just lose your concentration and start maybe not reading things as clearly as your like. I mean if you are trying for a really high score (i dunno when i took it i was thinking, eh li'll just get like a 1400 hopefully and take it again later , which i didnt end up doing) then like every problem is gonna count, like you need to get all the math ones right to get an 800 so you read a simple problem wrong, and you lose that question.
