The Russian skater fell once and got third.

It's not about falls, it's about technical performance and style. She may have fell twice, but her coreography was excellent.

Just b/c you skate a "clean" program with no falls doesn't mean that you'll win a medal. And just b/c you fall doesn't mean that you won't get a medal. If someone skates a boring program that doesn't have any kind of technical merit of grace/style/substance, they aren't getting jack sh!t
