SAS and U160 concurrently

I'm having some trouble to get both my Adaptec 29160(U160) PCI, and Adaptec 4805(SAS) PCI-E controllers to work on my MSI K8N Neo4 Plat.
The 29160 registers fine, but the 4805 says it cannot start the ROM. Can these both run at the same time? ...since I have U160 drives and SAS drives I want to use.

Also, only part of the card's interface(?) fits in the PCI-E slot of the MB. Is this normal?
The slot on the MB is open ended on one side so it does fit fully inserted.
