Yeah, thank god theres Obama.
So you agree she has no qualifications for the job? I didn't see an argument to convince me otherwise.

and what exactly are Obama's qualifications? a Senator is more qualified than a governor?

Color me unsurprised. There is still a huge enthusiasm gap between the GOP and Democrats this year. Getting Republicans to the polls on November 4th will be their biggest hurdle.

Seriously...my mother is very motivated to vote now...so is my wife...she was moderately supportive of McCain...now both of them are going to the polls together to vote for McCain...I think you underestimate the power that Palin may have on mothers and their identification with her...

McCain once again demonstrated his implusive nature and lack of presidential judgment.

This choice is purely politic, treating her as a generic female in order to go after the supposed disaffected Hillary block. Even the talking heads on Fox are questioning this choice-I wonder if they will have a full scale GOP revolt like when Bush nominated Harriet Meirs for the Supreme Court?

please, no matter who he picked you guys would be bitching and moaning...

the fact is he assessed his situation and made a decision to bet the farm on something more risky..gotta give him some credit for at least not going the "safe" route...

Either this will pay off big time or he falls on his face, personally I don't believe Obama one bit, he reminds me too much of our do nothing Mass Gov. Deval.

No, I completely understand she'll appeal to the creationist pro-life mothers of America. 99% of those people were never going to vote for Obama anyway.

Sweet, she's going to deliver the red-state of Alaska to McSame.

Good God you are dumb. A VP pick hasn't been important in carrying a state in something like 40 some years. It's a none-issue.

Do you think thats still true when the VP pick is the governor of said state and has a 90% approval rating? That's not exactly Dan Quayle, now is it?

bush had 90% approval rating once too, just saying.

Obamabots are in a rage because nobody even remembers Obama's speech last night, let alone are debating it.

Gallup says no.....

Gallup says, please read me before you use me to prove anything about Obama's speech:

The latest results include interviews from Tuesday through Thursday night, though most of the interviewing was conducted before Obama's acceptance speech late Thursday.

The poll you linked to was mostly based on the aggregrate effect of the DNC convenction right up to Obama's speech. We won't know for sure what effect Obama's speech has until the next full polling cycles takes place...

There isn't one person in this thread who thinks the best Republican VP candidate to be ready on day one is Palin. This was purely a political choice.

given the choice, would you rather have a VP who's not ready on day one or a President who's not ready on day one?

i still haven't seen a good argument for obama not being experienced enough for president.

'omg he's only been in governemnt for 15 years lolololol fail'

duh? 😕

given the simple choice of either senator or governor, i would rather have the senator every time.

Not that I track polls all the time, but it will be very interesting a mth from now on how they sit 😉
What is it now? 8 points ahead for Obama? I don't think it will look like this in a month.

The party that has won elections for the last half-century based on their strong national security background has just thrown that platform out the window.

Pros: GOP soccer moms are getting excited

Cons: GOP everyone else sees her as a softie, and will cringe every time she exalts Hillary Clinton in her speeches to con Democratic women voters.

Just wait until the first debate. Creationism. Abortion. Drilling ANWR (something even McCain opposes). Her ethics investigation. It'll all come out.

in other news, my 50 year old, female, white, rascist cook is furious and vowing to vote for 'the ni****' because she doesn't think women have the 'balls' to run wars.

Heh. I live here in Nome, Alaska. Been trying to find a video of me bitching out Sarah at the end of the 2007 Iditarod sled dog race for her allowing the state to break state law (still current to this date) against me. I have a feeling if I manage to dig that video up from someone it will be worth a lot more in the next few months.

How did the state "break state law against you?"

Through the divorce court. In November of 2006 the court ordered me to pay child support which contradicts Alaska civil rule 90.3. That same month my ex-wife also attempted suicide and I got my children back. I filed for 2 motions in court, both of which my ex-wifes attorney shot down as I could not afford a lawyer and I did not have all forms... "complete".

Well anyways I have had my kids since November of 06, CSED is crunching down on me saying pay (with new monthly bills) or goto jail. I tried with zero success to have CSED fix the problem since I have had custody since then, but talking to them is like talking to a brick wall. Fed up with all the BS this has been bringing onto me, I wrote a letter to Sarah explaining my situation. So she turned it over to the Commissioner of the Department of Revenue, Patrick Galvin for him to lead an investigation. Being a total lazy jackass about it all, Pat puts CSED to investigate themselves. Obviously CSED found nothing wrong with an order that they recommended the judge impose even though it was a plain and blatant violation of civil rule 90.3.

Unsatisfied with the investigation Pat and the Department of Revenue led, I wrote back to Sarah. She replied with something totally off the wall that had nothing to do with my case, or even remotely related to the topic at hand and wanted me to visit this web page... here. Because of that stupid reply I got from her, that led me to personally bitch at her at the end of the 2007 Iditarod race when she visited Nome for that finish.

When Tony Knowles was Governor of the State of Alaska, I swore to myself I will never vote for another Democrat in my life since he allowed the Alaska Regulatory Commission to directly put my father and I out of business (We owned an ISP here in Nome serving Nome, Teller, Shishmaref, Breviq, Unalakleet, Council, and White Mountain) Now I am on the verge of never voting for republicans again. At least not for Sarah. She has already personally proven to me that she can not control a small state government and has no real leadership. If she can not serve Alaska and it's people, she sure as hell is not ready for Vice President.

The executive can't really interfere with the judicial branch in the way you seem to want to. Why didn't you appeal? That is the proper remedy.

Why did the award violate 90.3?

Really, it's getting hilarious watching the huge Obama supporters go into denial on McCain's pick.

Whether or not this helps McCain with dissaffected Hillary voters-- who knows? Maybe a little, it will. But it certainly helps McCain with the conservative wing of the Republican party-- the one group who was wary of him and who only tepidly supported him. With the selection of an NRA-card carrier, pro-lifer, reformer governor he has shored up his base considerably.

You do realize how sad it is when you and your Iike are so "fired up" over the VP nod - more so than the person running for President....

\the same people who were tearing McCain down before he got the nomination as the Gop candidate....

Exactly what I was thinking.

This is NOT about Hillary supporters or people in the center. This is about revving up the enthusiasm of the Republican base, which McCain needs badly.

Had McCain picked Romney, the Republican base would have gone ballistic. I'm from a fairly conservative area and most people here think Romney is pretty fake as far as his "conservative" credentials. They also consider the Mormon religion to be a cult because the Mormons altered the Bible, which is supposed to be final.

ah, ha ha ha.....

/just one more edit....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

Texas did pretty well under Bush.

of course, it might not be coincidental that the Texas governorship is like the least powerful governorship in the country, to the point that it's almost a ceremonial position.
