Sarah Palin is a disaster

Did anyone get a chance to check out her town hall appearance today? Oh Lord, I fully understand why the McCain camp kept her locked up for so long. She has a lot of work to do.

When asked about her national security credentials she answered with the following (and no I'm not making this up)

I have that confidence. I have that readiness," Palin said. "And if you want specifics with specific policies or countries, you can go ahead and ask me. You can play 'stump the candidate' if you want to. But we are ready to serve."

It's sounds even worse on video.

I guess I would have to see the video then because I see nothing shocking there.

Then McCain followed up with how she managed the Alaskan National Guard and how she's such an expert of energy, (garnering a deal with the oil companies to build a gas pipeline, etc), which is the number 1 national security issue. Hence she has that credential.

I personally wished Palin would've said, "I can see Russian from where I live!"

The questioner had asked her to name specific instances/issues she had dealt with to mitigate and reassure those critics who question her experience. She failed with her response so McCain had to chime in.

This blog piece summarizes the townhall meeting. Just read the quotes.

The video wasn't horrible, but you can tell this was her testing the waters of answering questions in a town hall format. They'll probably keep her from doing that again for at least a few more days.

Oreilly is discussing Palins fashion with a media coach right now, trying to find her substance as a candidate.

"I'm not really vice-presidential material, but I played one at the RNC! Oh, like and such as..."

<whisper>: Hey McMac, can I tell my joke yet? This is hard.
<McMac>: Not yet, keep smiling.
<whisper>: Dangit!

When I want to find out how good the car I'm buying is, I don't ask the car salesman.

CNN did a piece about this an hour ago. Both McCain and Palin got a lot of softball questions, and even the softballs at times were too tough for Palin so McCain would step in like her daddy and answer for her.

The wheels are coming off the wagon.

Does anyone here think she'll have a snowball's chance in hell unscripted against Biden in front of a live national audience?

I do. If he says it's bad, it probably is really bad.

In 1960, with Vice-President Nixon saying his 8 years in the White House gave him a lot of experience more than Sen. Kennedy, reporters asked Eisenhower to name one policiy decision that Nixon had played a key role in in 8 years. Eisenhower responded, 'If you give me a few days I might think of one.' Nixon lost.

I'd like to ask all the Republicans who ran, "what make Palin more qualified than you?"

She won't be unscripted. Comedians talk for an hour from memory, stage actors talk for an hour from memory, she'll go in with plenty of scripted material memorized.

The fact that Palin is backfiriing is bad news for the republicans. Barring a knockout performane at the debates, they have no more bullets left in the chamber. Palin was was supposed to be the gamechanger and that's why McCain took such a huge risk on her. Now polls are suggesting that voters are going back to what they usually do - vote the top of the ticket. And Obama wins that battle handily.

I suppose there's always the ol' 527s and extreme attack ads.

Woah... try not to get too far ahead of yourself there, junior.

McCain was only down a point or two before the start of the DNC convention-- which was also Pre-Palin.

The latest polls still show more Americans think McCain is qualifed to be President than any other candidate. Second on that list was Biden. But there is some good news for Obama: he finished first among those polled when asked who is NOT qualified to be President.

McCain's favorability numbers are also still higher than Obama's. I fail to see how you can spin any poll and say Obama is winning anything at all handily.

Apparently you haven't been reading any of the latest polls, "junior".

Diageo, Obama +3
Gallup, Obama +2
Research 2000 Obama +4
Rasmussen O -1 (but trending rapidly towards Obama)
CBS Obama +5
Reuters Obama +2

All of these were solidly in the McCain column last week. The steady state for this election has been Obama ~+3. Palin changed that, but apparently only temporarily. The electoral college also has numerous more viable paths for Obama than McCain. Thus why he wins handily barring a huge debate showing.

By the way, the "qualified to be present" numbers are meaningless. Hillary dominated those polls in the primaries and you know what happened there.

Ohhhhh Boy.... I can't wait for the debates, especially the VP debate.
But I still firmly believe Palin will cop out at the last minute.
Unless they use the famous Bush hidden communication device from the 2004 debates.
Wonder where???

Did she say Iran was a small country that posed no large threat? No? Ok then she's already better than BO - which would explain why Hamas, North Korea, Danile Ortega, Chavez etc haven't endorsed her yet. Obama's heart beats in synch with America's enemies and they like him.

BS I've read your posts and there's no way you can convince me that you like him.

Obama carries his telepromtor with him everywhere he goes... so he can recite speeches that other people have written for him.

I'm glad she's crashing and burning, the last thing we need is some power abusing, book banning Creationist Aunt Bea whack job as VP.
