Palin is not book smart, she is socially smart.

Help us understand that you are being serious here. Link?

Because when I see things like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhsCilfxY4M , I'm at a loss to explain how people can say she is smart in any sense. In fact, by observation it would appear the woman is quite possibly mildly retarded.

That clip I just linked blows the OP clip out of the water. I love the expressions of those who know the woman is utterly full of shit, but play along as they have similar politics. Freaking hilarious.

Her book Going Rogue has sold more than two million copies

How many millions do you think she made?

I'm surprised that any mainstream political party isn't too embarrassed to say "yeah, she's with us". She sounds like she's just taken some mind-altering substances, then shown that video and immediately asked for a reaction in 3, 2, 1... and just blurted this load of crap.

And that load of crap is still better than what the liberal woman said.

At least Sarah has the sense not to advocate for a $20+/hr minimum wage.

She has managed to become governor, VP candidate, paid to speak all over the place.
A mountain of faux pas yes, however the base forgives her. She must be able to sell herself otherwise she'd never had the success she has had. That is socially smart, doubling down when she is clearly out to lunch, bullying to redirecting criticisms, setting up straw man arguments are all skills.
The popular girl in HS can be clueless and a real b1tch but still manage to wrap people around their fingers

Please.
That doesn't even to begin to answer my question. So I guess not only do you have a near pathological hatred of women, you seem to be confusing money with brains, with a side of numbers = merit.

Palin is smart because she made money off a book that sold, the same way McDonalds is the epitome of modern cuisine due to sales volume, or Fox somehow having journalistic integrity because they have more viewers than other channels. Regardless, her book was less an actual book and closer to a political statement/funding effort by those who like her. A popular bumper sticker does not a clever person make, sorry.

The twit sells herself as a frugal politician, but bills Alaska $20,000 for her kids travel expenses? Advocates responsibility and abstinence, but quits office before end of her term, had pregnant teen daughter. Mocks welfare assistance and boasts of self-reliance and individualism, but was Governor of Alaska - the most glaring example of welfare support in the country. Rails against pork and spending, but hired lobbying firm to chase $25mil in fed earmarks for Wasilla, a town with 6,000-7,000 people.

The eye popping contradictions, the all too common displays of cognitive dissonance, thru it all she doesn't bat and eye - and neither do her sycophants.

And you guys wonder why you keep losing arguments and elections. *shakes head*

So you are arguing she manages to make millions off selling complete BS.

She is basically the ultimate used cars salesmen.

Not saying she is Einstein. But she isn't exactly in retard territory.

She has managed to become governor,

Who sucked at her job, then quit it before it was over.

VP candidate

A female Dan Qayle, whoopty shit!

paid to speak all over the place.

More of a comment on those who want to hear her really, rather than her demand or skill at it. I hope you can appreciate that giving a confused, directionless lecture full of talking points, pablum and falsehoods at a religious school or think tank is quite different than being sought after by say, Harvard Law or Princeton, to detail some finer points of Constitutional Law or debate USSC case precedents which relate to contemporary issues, challenges, or legislation.

A mountain of faux pas yes, however the base forgives her.

Trying to sell off Palin's well documented ignorance as just "faux pas" is intellectually dishonest, and you know it.

She must be able to sell herself otherwise she'd never had the success she has had.

Wait, are you telling me politicians *pause* lie? Fascinating.

That is socially smart, doubling down when she is clearly out to lunch, bullying to redirecting criticisms, setting up straw man arguments are all skills.

I see that as more being dishonest and image obsessed than "socially smart." The actions you described are what she resorts to on account of not being smart, socially or otherwise. I would think we could agree that a smart person would have no need to resort to bullying, they would objectively refute the criticisms. A smart person would be answering questions accurately in good faith, as strawmen aren't necessary for someone is smart and has prepared themselves for what's ahead with due diligence. As I've said many times before, you guys really need to raise your standards.

The popular girl in HS can be clueless and a real b1tch but still manage to wrap people around their fingers

Yes, through dishonesty and manipulation. And what happens when that girl hits the real world and realizes her high school tactics are suddenly a lot less effective than the education that she should have developed by then? How do you think she's going to fair compared to the not so popular girl who has a 4.0GPA, work experience and problem solving skills? Who is getting hired in that interview?

Intelligence is no vice. Ignorance is no accolade. Palin supporters want to reverse that, which makes me laugh and feel pity for them at the same time.

Do you mean you make her.

My english is pretty far from perfect,... but, what are you, some sort of a hill person?

Just an extra 'r' in there. It's right next to the 'e' on most keyboards. It's commonly referred to as fat-fingering. This is what it should have said:

Ironic, you make about as much sense as she does.

I am not sure what a hill person is?

I won't say a politician 'lies' malleable is probably more like it
Below explains why 'smart' is reading other people and leads to greater success than being brilliant. I don't like her however I can understand how she rose to prominence.

http://psychology.about.com/od/intelligence/fl/IQ-or-EQ-Which-One-Is-More-Important.htm

Daniel Goleman suggested that EQ (or emotional intelligence quotient) might actually be more important than IQ. Why? Some psychologists believe that standard measures of intelligence (i.e. IQ scores) are too narrow and do not encompass the full range of human intelligence. Instead, they suggest, the ability to understand and express emotions can play an equal if not even more important role in how people fare in life.

a national insurance company found that sales agents who were weak in emotional competencies such as self-confidence, initiative, and empathy sold policies with an average premium of $54,000. Not bad, right? Well, compared to agents who scored high in a majority of emotional competencies, they sold policies worth an average of $114,000."
(Cooper, 2013)

Research carried out by the Carnegie Institute of Technology shows that 85 percent of your financial success is due to skills in “human engineering,” your personality and ability to communicate, negotiate, and lead. Shockingly, only 15 percent is due to technical knowledge. Additionally, Nobel Prize winning Israeli-American psychologist, Daniel Kahneman, found that people would rather do business with a person they like and trust rather than someone they don’t, even if the likeable person is offering a lower quality product or service at a higher price."

IQ alone is not enough; EQ also matters. In fact, psychologists generally agree that among the ingredients for success, IQ counts for roughly 10% (at best 25%); the rest depends on everything else—including EQ."

It reminds me of an offensive joke I heard once. "What's the difference between Sarah Palin's mouth and her vagina? ... Only some of the things that come out of her vagina are retarded."

After five kids she's probably more like an empty aircraft hangar with a minx logo painted on it, be sure to strap a two-by-four to your ass first so you don't fall in! I'm sure her chest has that whole fried eggs thing going on too so go ahead and slap your bacon between them before going diving in the Grand Tundra Canyon.

Sarah should just stick to Crossing The Road jokes - they are pretty easy.

Why did the republican senator cross the road?
Because he wanted to get on the side that the only two black republican senators were not on.

Why did the republican senator cross BACK to the other side of the road?
Because the only two black republican senators followed him.

Why did the republican senator cross back again to the other side of the road?
Because elections are in the fall and those last two jokes made him look racist.

See, easy peasy.

edit: added senator to the joke.

Speak of offensive, while I despise Palin I think many if not most of the left lost finger pointing privileges when they went after her family and the Down's syndrome child. Better to call someone a ****** and yes I used "that" word.

What was McCain's old motto. Country First? The fact that he thought picking Palin as a VP was putting country first proves why he was never capable of being president.

I wonder if McCain facepalms every time Palin makes an ass of herself. I suppose his face would really hurt by now.

It's hard to imagine how he could have done worse in selecting a running mate. He listened to a vocal group of voters who were so loud that he must thought there were more of them, but in the end I believe she cost him votes.

Far right? Check.
Woman? Check.

Hmm. She'll do.

That seems to be about the extent of thought applied, and it cost him.

Listen to this clip again and imagine if she ever had to speak to a foreign leader. My gosh. Imagine the damage she would have wrought on our country. As if Bush wasn't bad enough.
