"Scope was off"
What range was the scope sighted in for? There is no "right on" - it's "right on" for a particular distance. Something seems really weird about that video - I've never seen an animal within 200 yards hang out while 5 shots are taken at it. The caribou is looking at them, the cameraman is changing his angle constantly. That should be enough motion for the caribou to decide to get the hell out of there. Maybe it has an IQ similar to Sarah's?

Yeah, i've never seen ANY animal react like that, if there is a shot heard they will run like hell in the opposite direction immediatly, if they spot you they will run like hell too.

Maybe it was brought there from a petting zoo and lightly sedated?

I've seen animals stand there after one shot, looking for where the sound came from. But 2 shots? Never, let alone 5. Not to mention that as soon as it saw the movement of the cameraman, it would have gotten the hell out of there. Her reaction afterward - sounds like someone who has only hunted a handful of times in their life. I know 17 year old girls who wouldn't even react that way as if it was a big deal that they shot a big animal; they'd just take on more of a matter of fact attitude.

I've never seen them stand there after one either, i suppose it depends on where you are hunting though, i'm the only hunter for many many miles around my land.

And yeah, if you are used to hunting then first of all, you set your own scope on your own weapon and if you miss five shots at 200 yards on such a big animal, you are either blind or you don't how to set your scope proper and when you kill it, that's pretty much just OK, i got it, she sounded like she was a winner on a game show.

the distance they were at seemed much farther, I don't find it too odd

Big difference though - deer have incredibly keen eyesight for seeing movement. The guys shooting in that video were in a blind. In the Palin video, you have at least 4 people, one of whom is moving around videotaping; you have all sorts of other movement.

That and it didn't seem to be right in the middle of nowhere, the deer was probably used to both the sounds and the people.

I've had deer that would walk up to my house and steal apples from a bucket when i was sitting right there, i could have hunted that kind of deer with a hammer.

It was probably the incredibly rare and elusive CG reindeer.

I don't want her to be president....if she were shooting Nukes at North Korea, she'd likely miss at this range.

None of this matters since her tits are still huge.

I thought she handled the weapon fine. It was pointed towards the target she just destroyed. Typically you only really need to know what is a mile behind the target. A 30.06 or a .308 or similar caliber does not go beyond that. They are only really effective up to about 800 meters. That said they are clearly in the wilderness and I doubt anything is within a mile behind them. Also as said above, the guide likely knows it is clear.

This I liked.
The 30-06 Springfield (180 gr SP BT) has a max Range of 5675 yards or 3.22 miles. kgb_--a good shot!

It doesn't go beyond a mile if you're shooting level. Now, if you're aiming up a hill... :)

Still, it's Alaska. There probably wasn't another human within at least 5 miles.

I'm not taking sides in this thread I was just pointing to the inaccuracy in tranceport's claim.

Yes, because Presidents have a joystick where they guide the missle in themselves.

I'm sorry, did you never play Missile Defense? With her aim, we'll all be dead before she hits the first nuke. It's ain't worth it man.

Have you hunted caribou in alaska? I know I haven't, therefore I don't know how skittish they are compared to the whitetails down here. Two different animals in two different environments, I don't think you can compare the two.
