Sapphire X800 XL?!

Huh, I saw it and I was quite impressed by the performance, but also by the price. It's only $130 CDN ($100 US) more than a 6600 GT and it's outperforming it by more than 20 fps and sometimes more than 30 fps.

Now.. the maker is Sapphire and it's a Bulk version (the less expensive X800 XL I saw). I saw some reviews of the Sapphire X800 XL and there were worries about the heat and the fans.

I'm just wondering if these "worries" were really that big, if these problems were that important (noise and heat)? Should I stay away from this card?

Thanks!

Newegg has a genuine ATI made X800xl for $299.00. I have one and it's great and quiet.

Sorry... Newegg doesn't shipp to Canada 🙁 🙁 🙁 I would prefer the BBA but I was wondering about the Sapphire!?

Sapphire (or its parent) manufactures BBA's thus the only reasons to choose one or the other identical product are price and warranty.

$100 USD = $122 CAD

X800 is in a diff'rent league altogether than the 6600 and should be compared instead to a 6800.

Personally, if I get a reference type X800 I will also get a Zalman heatsink/fan or a Gigabyte style heatpipe/heatsink combo if available. But I would prefer also to get one with dual DVI and a breakout box so I/O options are not limited.

ncix.com has the BBA X800XL for $422 CDN. Relatively good prices, works out to about $345 USD. They also have the Connect3d for $398 CDN. It's a pretty good price if you know what most video cards cost up here. They're not in stock yet, but will be shortly.

Compusmart has the bba for $400.00 Canadian. Still too much. edit: also the agp version for $500, way too much.

don't buy sapphire, and if you do...get a fan for it.

I had a bad experience with a saphire r9800 pro

the fan stopped working and my car burned after only 1.5 years of use.
and it ran on stock speed!

get gigabyte, msi or asus...
