Hi there, anyone know of a way around this happening?
I've never overclocked before but i'm using the safe recommended automatic overdrive feature & the whole time it makes the screen flash while it's going through the various settings. I've also tried increasing it it tiny increments but as soon as the slider goes up at all the screen starts flashing. It it supposed to do this or would it stop if i applied the changes? Or is it as messed up as it seems?

Sapphire x1950pro 512mb AGP (Catlyst 7.4)
A64 3700+ Clawhammer 2.4ghz
Asus K8V SE Delux (socket 754)
2x512mb & 1x1gb Ram (2gigs memory)
Trust 430wt PSU
XP Sercice Pack 2

thanks for any help or suggestions in advance guys!:)

When I used my x1950PRO I stayed on 6.12 drivers and ccc. It was perfect for the x1950 pro. But every time I tried to update even a 1 mhz memory overclock would cause flashing. That or try differnt kinds of drivers or atitool to overclock but they don't let you overclock the memory. It was a shame because I had my x1950pro overclocked a lot on the 6.12 but was stuck on that drivers. I switched to an 8800GTS 320MB and got the problem with blurry text on wide screen resolution but atleast their is an easy fix with that. Really disappointed with both ati/nvidia and drivers right now.

Anyone know if my 430w psu is ok or not? It seems stable but i noticed that it reccomends more on the side of the x1950pro box...

The Sapphire X1950pro AGP is a pretty poor overclocker, very few people have been able to achieve decent results with this card.

What is the +12v rating of your PSU, the Sapphire (and a few other X1950Pro AGP cards) cards have a lot of problems with PSU's that are below the requirements of 450w and 30a on the +12v.

Have a chat to Apoppin, in the Video forum, he has this card also and was able to overclock it some what, he also has a lot of experience with the PSU requirements of this card (just read some of his threads about it).

After the recent 7.5 update it now seems to work without flashing (even though it wasn't in the updated featuers list i read?) My next stage is to get a new psu & have a chat with Apoppin...
cheers dudes,
Dave:)

yea who makes that PSU? i've never heard of it before...
try this, reboot your system, open up CCC, unlock overdrive, increase your core clock by the smallest increment possible, select "preserve ATI Overdrive settings" and "enable ATI overdrive for 3d apps..." then click Apply,OK.. what happens? then try opening up 3dmark06 and running a test. what happens?
