Sapphire X1800XT 512 CCC problems

Two problems:

1. I installed the disk that came with my video card (8.205) and then installed the newest drivers on the ATI website. I also downloaded the installed the chuck patch. If I uninstalled the driver, I restart and get a blank windows screen, and have to insert the sapphire disk and reinstall without looking. This blank screen should not happen right?

2. When I open Caty. Con. Center, it takes 8 to 10 seconds to load up. This did not happened before and I do not want to reinstall windows. My psu is a seasonic 500W and I have 2G of ram. This should not be happening. Yes I reinstalled my drivers several times.

Why are you installing from the disk AND the web site ? And your lucky your CCC doesnt take longer than that. Mine took up to 20 seconds till I got rid of it. Uninstall everything and just install the newest drivers to see if it works....

CCC loading slowly is normal.

as mentioned previously, there is no need to use the disk. just follow the inst. on the d/l site to install the new drivers. if done correctly, there is no reason you should have to reload windows.

You need to install CCC in order to change any of the rendering settings on the card, that arent controlled in game. Such as forcing AA or AF.

Theres a lot of other options in there too.

I dont find it much of a problem myself, i rarely open it as io can switch profiles from my taskbar.

1. I reason I have to use the disk is because, if I use a program like driver cleaner, and reset my computer, windows is a blank screen, can't see a think. If I start up in safe mode, the scrolling screen freezes and never goes to windows. I have to start normally, and hit enter 3 times until the old drivers are installed. Then I install the NEW drivers. Like I said, If I roll back this NEW driver, and reset, windows is a black screen.

2. If I don't use CCC, what should I use? Don't you need CCC for elderscrolls chuck patch?

What about the elder scrolls patch, don't you need CCC?

Also I now get an error : 2753 atishlx.exe when I try and install drivers!

1. I'm still curious, if I install omega drivers, does the AA and HRD patch still work with oblivion?

2. What about Anisotropic Filtering?

3. Does this work: Omega drivers - chuck patch - ATI tools - HDR - Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering?

why are you using CC at all. it plain sucks. remove it and get ati tray tools. more features (fan control, overclocking) and faster. muich much much faster. and no .NET.

Here's what I did: Installed base Ati driver, no .net and no CCC. Then I also installed Ati tray Tools to adjust advanced options like AAA and HQ AF. I installed the chuck patch too, and everything works like I expected, without CCC.

Thanks for the input. Another elder scrolls question. I put AA and AF on full, grass distance and all distances on full. Then I looked at the hill aross from the lake outside of the main city. Everything over the lake is smoothed over. With everything max for experiment, shouln't I see grass? I see rocks some rock appeared. But smooth grass? video limitation?

X1800XT 512 no OC

actually ATT causes some problems. an example i just ran into is could not get Adaptive AA running in SiN Episodes with ATT installed.

while some don't like the 10 sec load time (ccc is slow to load, game performance isn't slow), or the mem usage (and i do agree a client/server setup for something like this is a bit clunky) there's really nothing wrong with std drivers and CCC.

edit: btw, overclocking does not work with ATT. you have to install atitools along with it.....
