Im not the person to whom starts rumors but i have heard off the grape vine that the
290X 8GB could be coming out as a 768 bit as well.
Wow thats gota hurt even more for the 780ti buyers,
And that the price is going to be around $1000.00 to $1100.00 per unit, Yes Asus prices would be over the top as they normally are.
How do i know this, a friend who works in that area.

Hurt how? The 290X is a hot loud chip combined with AMD's so so (at best) drivers. I have zero incentive to even consider an 8GB/768 bit GPU which won't even be utilised by any game anyway. Consoles still come first, how many developers will sink those extra resources into an engine that can take advantage of a card that few have?

No one is going to buy that card anyways.

Its like buying a 650Ti with 4GB's of ram. Its just marketing the gpu will never be fast enough to use all the memory it will just sit unused but hey you can check something else off on the back of the box to fool the novice users!

Are you kidding dude? get outside and look at the real world.
Every card that Nvidia brings out is that far over priced it isn't funny. I am not a fanboy of either. If it's good i say it's good, so over priced they are.
There may not be a game out that You Play that will take advantage of all that Vram.
But be sure they are there.
Consols are better if you have cheaper hardware in your computer.
My celling fan in my house is way louder than my 2 Sapphire 7970 6GB with fan speeds at 70%
Once more we go back to buying cheap versions with doggy fans

I love sterring the kids up, i find that the the green Leprechaun fanboys fireup better,
even if they do pay a third more than they should for video cards.

768 bit is not enough for 8GB. At the very least you'd need 1024bit.
That's considering 256bit cards have a maximum of 2GB VRAM. Anything above that is 384bit and more.

And considering when I got my 1GB HD4890 it had a 256bit bus, I wouldn't be surprised if current day 2GB 256bit bus cards are already pushing it...

What game right now takes advantage of 8GB vRAM, never mind 4GB? What, 4K? All those 3 PC gamers that have a 4K setup might agree with you. At 1600p or 1200p, what else? I had a Sapphire Vapor X 280X and it was rubbish. The fans howled at 70-80%, the 780Ti Windforce I have now is silent at 50% loaded up. Cooler, quieter, worth a price premium. If AMD GPU's were priced equal to Nvidia (mining aside) no one would buy them, they always have been a cheaper alternative.

Shaynoa's "friend" is full of crap.

You can't just add another wing of memory controllers to a chip like that. You'd need a totally new chip.
