***SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4850 512MB***

figures, just ordered a Asus couple days ago for $187.99 with $30 MIR. I would have rather saved the extra money. Owell thats computers for ya.

Bonus is that it all sits on top of an Intel chipset.

Yup. It's also faster than a GTX 280. If you own a crossfire board, DON'T pass this one up.

I got the same deal, and I'd rather have the Asus for the better and longer warranty.

Plus I'm not supporting Sapphire, which (as most people have probably forgotten) offered a 128bit memory bandwidth 9800pro for a few bucks cheaper than the norm a few years back. It essentially choked the GPU by skimping on a feature few people thought to look at and which wasn't really well labelled or anything. They suckered a lot of people into buying that shitty card and made a lot of dirty money off it.

Call me anal (I prefer "principled") but imo the only way to keep business honest is to not support the dishonest ones.

I don't feel so bad now 🙂 This is my first ATI chipset since 9800 series so I wasn't aware of that. At the time I owned BBATi.

GREAT deal, especially with the newegg standard return policy, so you don't have to deal with Sapphire for a year 🙂

IF you give up $ 20 MIR, I believe. Obviously YMMV, as Newegg is quite flexible about the return, but their policy say "Products missing UPC codes or serial numbers from the box are NOT returnable."

Hmmm. I have a 3870 I could probably drop off on ebay for $100. Think this is worth the $40 extra or should I just sit out this round? My monitor is only 1680x1050.

I keep "nearly" buying this, but I'm waiting for a hot deal on a card other than sapphire. their rebates are terrible...think 5 months to get them back assuming nothing goes wrong.

if i still had a desktop pc, I would def buy two of these... I keep sitting at the purchase screen, and dont even have a case/mobo etc to put them in... LOL

Time to go manage my time better i suppose.

Yeah, I bought this even though I don't need it. I already have a super clocked 8800gt. That said, nvidia fixed aspect ratio scaling doesn't work and ati does and I'm tired of dealing with it.

sigh...finally broke down and sold the old 3870 for $100...I guess I can deal with the ****ing sapphire rebate again, mainly b/c it's only $20.

Just to fill you guys in, I did everything EXACTLY right b/c I was warned not to mess with sapphire rebates, and it took me 5 MONTHS to get the rebate on my x1950xt. I had already sold the card before the rebate check showed up in fact. Will post back good positive info on sapphire if the rebate is quicker this time, will flame them accordingly if it is again glacial since I gave them the benefit of the doubt last time.

well, not only that, but I did eventually receive my rebate last time...and going from a 3870 to a 4850 for $39.99 net is just too cool to pass up. Of course, that kinda makes it hard to justify putting an s1 v2 on it. we'll see how bad the heat/noise is with this guy in the antec 900.

The Zalman cooling solution on the toxic model makes it worth waiting for a good deal on those. I'm defintely not going to buy one with my411rebate.
