this is a good 4850... fan is quiet spun up fast enuf to cool the thing, and it does 680/1100 usually...
 
Damn that's cheap. How the heck is the low end video card market supposed to survive when a 4850 slots in at 86 bucks?

It makes me laugh when I see them still selling a 7200GS at MicroCenter for $45.

That's easy...just take a radeon 9200, add 2GB vram and put it on the shelf next to the radeon 4850 for $75.
 
I have the non HDMI version of this card. OC'd to 700/1083. A lot quieter than I thought it would be. Paid $130 AR which was a great price at the time. This is a great deal.

what happens is b&m stores just quit carrying the stuff that has value. i.e. a quick check of best buy's website shows that in the 80-100 buck range you have such fine choices as the 3650 and 9400gt. lol.

 
Wow, very nice deal for an HDMI card. Probably not quiet enough for an entertainment center housed HTPC, but great for a PC that doubles as a media front end.

This is probably a noob question, but has HDMI audio on these progressed to the point where it is actually usable? I bought a 3450 for an HTPC some time ago and it just never worked.

All of my friends believed that the more memory meant the higher the performance. So sad, I hope they listened.
 
lol they're not there yet, but there are 1gb 4650's and 9500gt's.

they've always tried to double the amount of memory available on similarly priced performance cards to dupe the consumer.

Too bad it doesn't have two DVI outputs (rather than the one DVI and one VGA) . Otherwise I agree this is a really good deal.
 
Hmmm...almost tempted to sell the GTX+ for $85 and pick this up. I didn't purchase the GTX+ (bought from a friend when he upgraded) so I don't have the EVGA Warranty on my side, and I'm paranoid about stuff like that.

I'm not positive, but couldn't you use the HDMI port to output to a second DVI monitor (using an appropriate HDMI-to-DVI cable)?
 
These are so cheap..tempted to get one to replace my dead 4870, but I'd hate to take the speed cut. Saves some $$, though..agh..
