Way overpriced, for that price it should offer Crossfire, and some PCI-E 4x slots, since I doubt anything will even use 1x.

i thought this would be the integrated video board for that price. am i missing it?

It offers integrated graphics I believe, but no crossfire and only 1 pci-express slot of any real worth.

IMO it is definitely overpriced and the SB lack of SATA2 is another disadvantage compare with NF4. I'd like to see other manufactures like Abit, Asus, DFI's solution with a different SB solution before jumping in.

Are you sure...? It's RX480, and RX480 doesn't have integrated graphics. Whereas, the RS480 does. Maybe sapphire included it in as extra though.

You also have to remember that e-tailers will sell this for cheaper. Ex: The eVGA SLI board costs $200 on their site. I think Newegg's selling it for $130 or something. So I wouldn't be surprised if you saw prices like $120-$140.

One thing I don't like about this board is what comes with it. One floppy ATA cable and one regular ATA cable? Now for me that's a bitch if you have an an ATA dirve and a DVD burner. It's impossible to get the Master to the HD, and the Slave to teh burner, and the Motherboard connector to the motherboard like that. Probably a SATA drive is recommended, or just buy another ATA cable for cheap.

Hint: If you want cheaper prices for yourself, do NOT advertise this board 😉. We all know about the AT effect. Talk about a hot product one day, price INFLATES like a helium balloon the next day 😀.

Gotcha - then we'll see a PI-RS480 soon then. Cool.

Anyone see any recent news on avail for this board and the cross-fire version (Halibut)?

Getting desperate!

I've been building a PC since last March (piece by piece)...

With all the "parts" I've already purchased...my office is beginning to look like a Newegg warehouse🙂

... all I ask is WHY?!?!? The stuff you purchased in March would either be cheaper now, or you would be able to get something better for the same price. For instance, I bought a 250GB hard drive in February for $99 - a rockin' deal at the time. Now that's about the going rate, and I've seen after rebate prices of under $80. The other thing is that your warranty clock starts ticking the moment you purchase the item. Some OEM parts only have the 30 day warranty of the vendor (depending on where you bought it) meaning some of your stuff may already be out of warranty before you even use it. Finally, in the time from then to now, you could have put your money in an interest bearing account (such as Ing Direct "orange" savings account) and thus have had a few more dollars to play with.

Mostly because I'm a WEAK minded consumer and money burns a hole in my pocket just like MOST of you on the Anandtech board🙂 If I didn't buy parts here and there...I'd never save enough to build a new PC.

I only buy components which are REALLY good and at REALLY cheap prices which are NOT offered frequently at low prices (i.e., get them when they're cheap, or pay top dollar because I HAVE to get them to complete the build). I don't buy the really dynamic components early (e.g., mobos, CPUs, video cards) because they constantly improve and the prices drop rapidly.

From March through today, I've got the case, PS, 2 HDs, DVD-Rom, DVD-RW, Sound Card, fan controller, and TV Tuner/video capture card all of which are prices HIGHER than I paid (or at lease within a dollar to 2).

My RAM should have arrived today, the video card/mobo should arrive next Wed. and I'll order the CPU/HSF after September 25 AND as soon as a good deal comes along.

I buy the "high end" parts just before I'm really ready to build the PC (which also happen to be the parts which improve and/or drop the MOST in price over time).

My system works for me.

Bud
