Hi all, I have found a card I can afford for my new 20" LCD,

The Sapphire is about $30 dollars cheaper.
Does anyone have any experience between the 2

Looks like the core is 5mhz faster and the Ram 20mhz faster on the Sapphire.

I'm a little concerned about noise too!

Help!

My X1900XTX is a Powercolor and I also owned a Powercolor 9700P. Pretty good company with reliable products. Never had to RMA once.

But they do have a lifetime warranty and that is always a plus.

one thing to note ... if you ever need warranty service ... Sapphire charges $15 for the RMA application ... you pay for shipping as usual.

mine is pretty quiet ... getting noticeable under load

my 2nd one is fine ... so far :p

Whaa? They charge $15 to apply for authorization? :p

I suppose it could be considered return shipping since it would amount to that anyway.

Matt2, so-called lifetime warranties prolly ain't whatchoothink.

If the price is the same or close then Powercolor is the company to go with of these two ... better RMA support + lifetime warranty.

Both here in NZ listed as 1 yr manufacturer warranty, so only down to build quality, then noise or fan used, then finally the price!

I've had my Sapphire since the middle of January...it's pretty good for a AGP card...if you get a Sapphire make sure your PSU is up to the job, you'll need 30A on the +12v and a minimum of 450w's.

it is an *extra* $15 expense to the consumer ...
--on top of the usual shipping one-way charges

it's for "processing the form"
--they may still deny your warranty ... and it is non-refundable
it's a SCAM ;)

and it's $30 for Canadians ... $50 for the rest of the world

The disparate rates imply it is just to cover return shipping so rather than creating bad will by calling it a processing fee they should simply state the warranty does not include shipping and these are the rates. I dunnot aboot other AIB's but that is certainly not uncommon with CE's.

Sapphire is the *only* manufacturer that is doing this

they charge you to *process* the application

THEN the RMA proceeds as 'Usual'

worst of all ... up till a month ago ... you could find NO info about this Sapphire SCAM - hidden charge - on their website or at any etailer's links or disclaimers

still don't know if it is common knowledge - except at this forum

Powercolor released X1950PRO 512mb version card too but NEWEGG doesn't have any comments about it and that's sooo strange!!!!!!
What about HIS?
