SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800 ATLANTIS 256MB OEM

This is looking like the cheapest around for this card if it is indeed a 256DDR card.

I am looking for a new card and this is about as high as I want to spend, the problem is that I see that little "OR" in the description.

Also the image LOOKS like it has the correct chipset which means it could be flashed from the pro to XT correct?

MSI 9800 Pro for $185>IT, IMO.

MSI 9800 pro for $185 is better than what he posted, in his opinion. 🙂

Ahh ok LOL, Actually he posted that for me as a favor from another forum, I just registered.

So for 10 dollars more the extra 128 megs of memory isn't worth it?? Sorry but I fail to see the logic in that.

Or am I missing something?

I am looking to upgrade my vid card and Since I am on a tight budget I am looking for bang for the buck and then some. Under $250 is my goal. I was told the 9800pros can be had for 245 and under and can be flashed to XT speeds very easily with a new cooler. I found this deal and was wondering what everyone thought.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Lookup the MSI 9800 pro in the video forum and you'll probably see how to unlock its other possibilities.

For $250, get a 6800 OC. Outpost has had it at that price a few times, and lots of other places are near that. $200 for a card that old doesn't make sense to me, but I guess I am willing to spend more than some.

Cheers

Ah...it's still at Outpost for $249, and I think that includes Far Cry (mine did anyways). Hope this helps somebody.

Too bad I already got Far Cry with my AMD bundle from a few months back LOL
I have been told by alot of people that the 6800 is alot better than the 9800 pro so I will look into it a little more in depth, thanks. I see that the link you gave shows it as PCI-e so I will check for the AGP flavor as my MOBO doesn't support PCI-e. 🙁

Will this fit in a shuttle? the SN95G to be exact?

Honestly I don't know, but check the Nvidia site bud, they have all the dimensions listed, also if that doesn't answer it their tech support usually responds pretty fast you could mail them as well if no one responds here.

I don't think it's PCI express. It says that it supports it, but it also says AGP 8x. And, it says in the system requirements "An AGP 2.0 (or higher) compliant motherboard. Some motherboards violate the AGP specification and therefore this card may not physically fit in some systems. "

So I'm not really sure whats going on there. Maybe email them and check? I bet that they have both flavors...in fact, I sort of doubt that this one is PCI express (are there any mobos that support that yet?).

Cheers

DG has the "ATI RADEON 9800 PRO(EASY) 128MB DDR" for $162. Seems like a good deal, so long as "easy" doesn't mean something like "SE".

EZ cards are crippled 128bit RAM cards instead of 256bit. Stay away from those.

The 256MB is a regular 9800, not a 9800 pro

Even if this is a pro, as per HERE, this might be a 128bit version if it's the same as their picture.

The thing is , that descrip shows a 256 MB 256 Bit, However those of you that picked out it was not a pro are correct, which tells me that this thing probably has the older chipset and is "retarded" back hence the price.

I will keep my eyes on the 6800OC and as soon as I see that $249 price tag again I will grab it.

Thanks for the input all!!

gameve.com... ugh.

While back I bought a card from them, but was out of stock. They didn't keep their site updated. They sent me a "better" card, which really wasn't, and it wouldn't work for the rig I was building. Had a heck of a time getting my money back. Hopefully they changed their ways, but I won't be buying from them again...

This card has a 128-bit memory interface.

Man, this is getting retarded again. It's not that I 100% blame sapphire because they tell these stores to LABEL them as 128-bit, but STILL I wish they would make the name clearer.

I was the one that started the www.boycottsapphire.com this last summer (site down now after Sapphire agreed to change the name of the product, they used to call these 9800 pros, WAY deceptive, changed the name of the 128-bit prodcuts to 9800 Atlantis). Many people have been confused by these naming routines, it doesn't help that these stores mislabel the product all the time.

Luckily the 9800 is reaching the end of it's product cycle so this retardedness will end and people will actually get what they think they are buying again.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I say go with a 6800. For only 50 more you get a card that is WAY better.
