Sapphire ATI Radeion 9800SE vs. XFX nVidia 6600...

First time building a system and the Video card choice is so far the hardest. The two I am currently looking at are:

Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800SE
XFX nVidia GeForce 6600

I am just looking for a good/best all around card under $150.00. But at this rate, I think I am going to lose my hair before I make a descision.

For under $150, a used 9800pro (256-bit) is probably your very best option. Your second best option is a 9700pro, which stat-for-stat, is a little under-par with a 9800pro. You should very easily be able to find a 9700pro under $150.

The Geforce 6600 vanilla really isn't worth it (too crippled with the 128-bit bus and lack of pipelines) and the 9800SE is very crippled if you're unable to softmod (chances are about 30:70 to unlock the extra pipes).

Between those 2, i would go for 6600 vanilla.

I say 6600 without having to think about it that hard. I've had some excerience with a 9800SE....Blaaa.

6600 easy. The 6600 you linked is PCI-e so hopefully your mobo has that.
