Sorry for a newb question, but how good is this deal on the graphics card? (excluding the games as i don't care much for these)

Sounds like a great deal, but I see user reviews mentioning the Horror That We Dare Barely Speak Of: The Coil Whine.

If you have bad hearing and/or lucky, I bet two of these would be amazing, though. Selling the coupon would get you some of your money back, too. Probably get AT LEAST $60 on the coupon on ebay, too even if you didn't get the MIR on the second card.

$699.99-60-20 MIR= $619 for 7970 CF plus three new, just released games OR
$699.99-120-20 MIR = $559 for 7970 CF.

Assuming you can sell the games for at least $60 per card. I suppose you could net more if you sold the codes individually. Damn. Almost makes me regret my Gigabyte 670 for $360 (with Borderlands 2) I got a month and half ago. Still, the shadow of a threat of The Coil Whine would likely bother me.

At the beginning of this year, there were individual 7970's being sold for more than the effective pricing of two of these cards now. That's hot. AMD's development of GPU drivers has been nothing short of amazing for the last few months and word that the 8970 successor will be using very similar architecture promises to lead to continued development that benefits the 79xx series.

I'm tempted to sell my 670 and roll the dice...

You'll be lucky to get $60 for BOTH coupons after fees. There is no way you would ever get $60 per.

well if you list at 50 and say best offer you could get 42-45. after fees maybe 38 a card so 75 to 80 for 2 cards. 20 for 1 rebate is 100 off 699 about 599 for 2x 7970's . I have one of them but I underclock for bitcoin mining no whine in the coil at 975 volts and 925 mhz with 1500 volts and 700 for memory.

So far the only 'bad' 7900 type card I had was a powercolor 7990 . is was open box from newegg and it was defective. so a bargain cost me 16 to ship back.
msi 7950 twin frozer
msi reference 7970 both oc and non oc
visiontek reference 7970
xfx double 925mhz models
sapphire twin 7970

I have all of the above doing 24/7 bit mining

they all work very good at 975volts 925 mhz 1500volts 685mhz. the 7970's hash at 525 or so with those settings. the 7950's hash at less around 425 at thise settings...

this sapphire is a bit flimsy so it may have a support issue in some cases. My sapphire is in a coolermaster elite itx case so it can't sag. here is the case.

as a follow up I sold 2 codes on ebay for 86 total after fees etc I cleared 70. so 2 for 700 minus 70 = 630 minus 20 rebate = 2 for 610 pretty good.
