OK, I actually see where you're coming from.

Your old phone was the 1010 and thats about the same size as the LG1200 which I was considering buying.
I was testing both the 1200 and the 6400 at the store in my pockets and they both feel about the same.

If you're looking for a better phone than the 1010, then get it.
If you're looking for less feel in the pockets, its about the same.

I have had the scp-6000 and it's been great. By far the best reception I've had with any phone. And it's nearly indestructible. I dropped it in a lake for about 15min and was able to retrieve it. I let it dry out over night and it started working again.

For $50 this is a steal. Though I think buying it at a store is better than ordering, as far as price and speed go.

Thanks for the tip on this deal. I assumed this deal was for new customers only.

What's the point of it being so thin if the big old antenna sticks WAY out on the back in an angled position? It would appear you can't even set the phone down flat on it's back. I've always wondered about that when I see people with these phones...

That's exactly how I see it. A co-worker has this phone, it is light but tall. With the leather case it will come out to $70 which I would need since I won't be able to keep it in my pants (sorry had to say it). Does the leather case have a clip where you can put it on your belt? And if it does, is it secure? Please let me know.

i too have a Sanyo 4900 and it's awesome...battery life, reception, i even put people on speaker phone and they think i'm just talking into the receiver

i love the speakerphone on my 4900 also, but it's a little bulky. i'm considering the 6400 for the size, but i not sure if i want a non-color phone.

If you buy (or don't buy) a cell phone based only on the brand name, you're not making an informed decision. I have used excellent phones, and total junk, from Samsung, Motorola and Sony. You need to look at reviews for the specific model you are interested in. Samsung phones don't have "a reception." Different versions of their phones have different capabilities, and different levels of quality. These electronics makers change suppliers constantly -- that that's particularly true in the cellphone market, where licensing deals often cover a product line, and not a whole series of different models.

SO, do your homework.

after getting my color LCD Sanyo SCP 4900 phone, I've learned that not only does the provider make a difference, but also the quality of the phone...if the sanyo SCP 6400 is anything like the 4900, it's awesome...

good things about my 4900:
1) cuts out background noise
2) speaker phone is great and *usable* (imagine that!)
3) small for a non-flip phone
4) reception is top quality
5) color LCD display

only bad thing about Sprint is that they are currently NOT offering the $30/mo 300 anytime/nationwide LD/free nights/weekends ...

Does anyone know how this compares to the 4500? I have a $100 credit but I don't want to use it unless this phone is significantly better than the one I have. I was thinking of waiting until the had some sale on the 8100 and using my credit than.

DROPPED IN A LAKE? That's impressive. Not that I'm gonna give a shot though 😉

I agree samsung = sh*t I have the Samsung A310 and wanted to get rid of it because its reception isn't good so its drop calls. I finally drop it in the lake by accident when fishing so I had to buy a new one which is Motorola T720i and it works great ever since. So, now I don't care how nice and small the samsung looks like I'll NEVER buy stuffs from them again. All there electronic stuff isn't reliable as well.

Just a heads up. I bought two of these phones for a total cost of $118 or so. Just got my Sprint bill, and they also charged me and additional $300 for these phones. Going to call those bastages up on Monday.

hehe i wonder if its worth 50 to try this out 🙂 nah thats why im on AT

agreed sanyo spanks samsung, i have owned virtually every brand and currently have a kyocera (about equal to a sanyo) the only this i have found better than sanyo was motorola (only the models actually made by motorola, they don't make all of their phones some are oem'd china crap that are on the same level as samsung)

too bad the ergonomics on the sanyos suck ass. I really enjoy my n200 (? -blue updated version of old 3500) but the reception sucks.

uhm i have a samsung s105 and it gets incredible reception everywhere i've tried it. never had a call dropped. don't know what you guys are whining about.

here's an idea.. get off the sprint network already, it doens't matter which phone you have.. u have to put up with the high rates and crappy coverage

nibs

ok i will bite what is this great carrier that you recommend with no dropped calls ever? oh wait they don't exsist, that is what i though!

I've heard a lot of good things about this phone, too. Not as feature rich as the Nokia 3650, but it still seems like a good phone.

got a direct link, I cannot find this phone on sprints site. Also this deal, is it just at sprint stores or would bestbuy or circuit city have it as well?

WTF?!? This phone isn't even in color. Personally, I would spend the flow and get the low end Sanyo Camera phone. I however, am extremely happy with my Samsung A500. Don't like candy bar style phones.
