Sanyo Eneloop or Rayovac Hybrid Low Self Discharge (LSD) NiMH AA batteries

Well, Ritz Camera has 4-packs for $12, but I want a deal like Wal-Mart apparently had where after rebate, the Rayovacs were less than $5/4-pack.

For those that don't know what these are, they are NiMH batteries that hold a significant amount of their charge even after 1 year of shelf life (70% or more). "Normal" NiMH batteries have a large self-discharge, frustrating digital camera owners in particular who grab their gear only to have the camera shutdown after a few shots.

These give all the benefits of NiMH in camera and flash usage (more shots in high-current draw devices) with the benefit of long shelf life. The drawback is that they have a lower capacity (2000mAh for Sanyo, 2100 for Rayovac). Also very useful in things like game controllers that use AAs.

2000mah isnt a low capacity i would say. I like lsd, if anyone can find them for about a buck a hit i mean a battery post up. ebay sells normal hits i mean batts for about a buck a pop, i bought an 80pk of AA panasonics 3 years ago for $50 shipped, they still work great but they do discharge in about two weeks if left alone.

how well do they work with 15 minutes charger? I have a duracell 15 minute charger and I think it's killing my batteries (mixed duracell and energizers) because the battery fault light's flashing a couple of times.

This kinda seems like an "I wanna" thread more than a hot deal thread, but I'll throw my $0.02 in here.

Ultralast Hybrio AA 4 pack or AAA 4 pack at Buy.com $7.99 each. There is also $10 off for new Google Checkout users.

Kodak Pre-Charged AA 4 pack at WalMart $7.88. They offer free shipping to participating WalMart locations, so you may just have tax on that one.

GE/Sanyo Eneloop at Amazon.com AA 8 pack $28.09 (dumb), AA 4 packs and AAA 4 packs for 12.99. These ship free for orders over $25.

Rayovac Hybrid AA 4 pack 14.99 at Circuit City.

lol

I love the Eneloops. There are not as high a capacity as some but they last hold their charge a long time when not in use. I have heard so so reviews on the ultralast batteries and decent reviews on the Rayovacs. By the way, I would stay away from the 15 minute chargers.

Thomas Distributing (home of Maha) has a few of those mentioned as well as the Accupower Acculoops (the Nexcell EnergyOns don't seem to be available yet). They periodically have deals going. You'll probably have to buy in bulk to get anywhere near 4/$5. Like here, or here.

Considering how new to market these are, I don't think we'll be seeing those kinds of prices for awhile.

I've been using the Powerex AAs that came with my Maha charger in my wireless Intellimouse, and in TV remotes. Seems like they last about 5-6 weeks. Leaving NiMH cells in flashlights is a PITA, however. I'm looking forward to some good deals on these LSD rechargeables.

I think you may be referring to a $5 off RayoVac coupon that could be used anywhere. It expired at the end of March. I bought some of the coupons at a website and then used them at Walmart. Net cost was about $4.35 + tax for a 4-pack. No complaints at all. These batteries work great. I put a set (straight from the blister pack - no charging) in my Pentax DSLR first week in February and have taken over 300 pictures (50 this last weekend). They are still going strong.

Don't waste your money on older rechargeables. These really work (Eneloops, too)!

I went into a Walmart about a month ago and at the photo area I found Rayovac packs:

Charger
2 AA
2 AAA

all for about $10. On the outside of the package was a tiny coupon, affixed with clear tape. On the outside it said "Save $5.00 back by mail." I bought two of these packs. When I got home, I read the MIR coupons carefully. They said I could use a maximum of two of the MIR's, so I was OK there. It also said that to get the rebate I had to buy for each coupon a 4 pack of Rayovac Hybrids by 12/31/2008. That gives me a long time. I'd looked all over Walmart, actually, and found nothing other than what I bought, so I couldn't have bought the batteries that night in any case.

I hear that the Hybrids are not quite as effective as far as LSD as the eneloops, but they are still very very good. Both are said to be very very good in terms of actually delivering the specified capacity. In fact, some have found them to be better than specified. There's plenty of into at Candlepower Forums.

Thanks, I picked some up. These should go well with the new LaCrosse BC900 charger I picked up a couple weeks ago on sale at Amazon.

I have been using a maha charger for my nimh's.
