this is one of the first 24X10X40 drives I have seen and the price is not that bad compared to the price on the 16X10X40 when they came out. I also believe that this drive has the BurnProof Technology

Anyone ever order from these guys?

I wonder what kind of warranty you'd get.. hopefully through the retailer. Getting a hold of Sanyo Electrics here in the US is impossible.

Isn't this the mechanism plextor uses or not? ETA for plextor 24x is next month at about this price. I may wait to get my plextor and get a 24x instead of a 16x.

most likely the same as the TDK 24x10x40 that is selling at bestbuy for 299. I have the 16x10x40 TDK and i have flashed it with a firmware up date for the sanyo/tdk burner.

24x?? jesus, my 8x is getting slow...

that's like a full burn (800megs) in what ... 3 mins and under?

is the price worth it? I mean a 24x burns only about 1 1/2 min faster than 16x but almost $100 more...

even tho your 12x may seem slow compared to the 24x keep in mind that it's only slightly over 3 minutes slower. If you can't spare an extra 3 minutes then you are one busy mofo....

Just a bit of background on this one... There's a great review at CDR Info.

The drive takes just over 4 minutes for a full CD burn, mostly because it splits the disk into three regions, and burns at 16X, 20X, and then 24X for the last part.

It definitely has Burn-Proof.

They compare it to the Plextor 16X, which the Sanyo comes in second to most of the time, but is very fast nonetheless...

The review also addresses issues such as overburning, CloneCD performance, etc...
