Santa Cruz Turtle Beach Sound card

I am on a 4.1 speaker system using my Logitech Z-560's. I have a turtle beach santa cruz sound card with all the latest drivers for windows XP. When i plug in my ear phones into my speakers it works just fine, but when i pull them out... i am still only getting sound from 2 speakers. My front 2 speakers and my bass dont have any sound. This problem is solved by rebooting my computer. Is anyone else having a similiar problem?
