I used to watch that show all the time as a youngster. I thought it was pretty funny. Redd Foxx was definately a great comedic performer. Anyone else used to watch the show?

Lamont: What's cookin' Uncle Fred?
Fred: CHICKEN!
Buddy: Smells like you burnt it, Mr. Sanford.
Fred: Well spray some solarcaine on it, you won't know the diffnce!

hehe Lemont. I read that he was on major drugs on a lot of those episodes.

I guess he became a preacher later on.

Funny show overall.

Cool! Another "All 30-somethings check in, please!" thread!

Yep, watched it all the time. Used to love that music "Da-da-da-dannadondon-da-da-dadannadondondaaaadon" with that harmonica squealing away, while they drove that POS pickup thru the neighborhood.

You know, the Sister-in-law from that show (can't remember her characters' name) is a big star now. She does the "Gotta luv it" Churchs' Chicken Commercials.

I guess I'll check my 20-something azz out then, old man 🙂
ph33r the nick-at-nite generation.

I used to watch it all the time as well and I'm a 20-something..

I liked the 2 cops and Fred's interaction with Julio..the "Mexican" next door..

Ooohhh...Oooohh...I feel another one coming on...going to join you Elizabeth...😀

BTW, I'm 28 and watched that show all the time so you don't necessarilly have to have been born in the sixties and be in your thirties to remember it. I don't believe when I was watching it they were reruns either, I believer they were on their first glorious showings.😉

I love all those old shows from the seventies,ie. The Brady Bunch, Three's Company, CHiPs(actually early eighties but who's counting), Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, blah blah blah. They were great, well at least some of them were. Some of them sucked *cough*Laverne and Shirley*cough*.

They said and did stuff on that show that networks today wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole -- instead of tackling race issues, today's shows would rather throw in more sex. A little trivia -- Isaac Hayes, of the Shaft theme fame and the voice of Chef on South Park, wrote the S&S theme.

Damn I love that show.

I'm 27, by the way.

I had an old pos 58 chevy truck (red, of course) that I named LaMonte, after the show. Yes, I know who LaMonte was, but when I told people what the name of my truck was, they instantly thought of Sanford and Son and their old truck and laughed.

Funny, great show!

Fred and Aunt Esther's fights were the best!

Lamont recently came to Wilmington Delaware to do some sort of lecture. He is a hard core muslim and hates the fact that people always call him lamont HAHAHAHA He is a very angry black man.

In your sixties to watch that show? WTF?
I'm 19 and I remember watching that show with my dad. Great stuff.

only in syndication. Its on Nick at Night every night, not sure about the time though.

That's when sitcoms were just that COMEDY! You could be funny without having the obvious tie to sex. Not that sex is bad but do we need it in everything?

Just my $.02
