If only they could be overclocked. Sigh. Intel must really hate their customers.
Isn't that a bit excessive? They in no way hate their customers, the customers buy their product. They do prefer to sell a product tailored to their customers price bracket, however.. If someone can afford and justify a $180 CPU, they want that customer to buy a $180 CPU. They don't want a customer that can afford and justify a $240 CPU to buy a $180 CPU, do they?
That is the reason they have such a variety of processors, making sure that all price brackets are filled!
I can justify and afford a $120 processor so I buy an i3-2100. If a G620 did everything I needed, I wouldn't be able to
justify the $120 processor, and I would have bought a G620.
What we do here on places like AT and similar, is discuss as a community what our, your, and their needs and budgets are, to come to a conclusion on justification and affordability.
That is why we have such great discussions on the new Intel and AMD chips, and why I log onto AT 10+ times per day.
Umm... To recap... Intel does not hate their customers. No business hates their customers. Well, maybe some. But not most!
-edit-
Now, the advantage us as technical 'nerds' have, is that we can take last generation's product, overclock it, and have it still be useful for longer than the average layman. Case in point, I will be overclocking my brother-in-law's Q6600 because I feel that if it ran at 3.1ghz instead of 2.4, an upgrade isn't quite needed yet... We're the minority in the computer business, lets not forget that!
