What about scrolling around? Laggy scrolling is *really* annoying.
Starting to see some hit with the 2x5770's in newer Cataclsym....down from 60fps to 50fps with 1920*1200 max 1xAA/4xAF.

I7 stock, Cataclysm, GTX285 stock. No lag whatoever. Doesn't dip in 25 man raids, doesn't dip in BGs, does dip in SW.

Your cards are far better than GTX285, but WoW doesn't like CF/SLI. Play with one and you probably get better results. Check out the "D3D11" parameter, it will further increase performance.

Yes, if you have money to spend, burn it on SSD if you have not. Yes, there are upgrades, buy 2 more monitors to unleash the true potential of those babies. Gaming mouse, gaming keyboards you name it. As to CPU/GPU on gaming ... not so much, especially on Cataclysm. I single core that is faster than 285 can deliver 120FPS most of the time, and it doesn't use more than 3 cores, so from 4 to 4HT doesn't kick.

My EPEEN! IS HUGE now! (ZIP) 2x 6950's @ 6970 stable!
Now I just need to find some games to play with them. Cataclysm def! plays faster, dual 5770's used to hover in and out of 60fps V-Sync quite constantly, producing some juddering, the dual 6970's do it enormously less. But I have still found instances where I will drop to 59 fps which is NOT acceptable. Waiting on KOR and Red Orchestra 2. Portal 2 I will be playing. Deus Ex. Duke Nukem. Skyrim.....if these cards are even still relevant then. Etc. Diablo 3. There are others just can't think of em.

But they still aren't fast enough. Cataclysm never goes below 60fps on Ultra 1920*1200, but sometimes it dips to 64fps. NOT ACCEPTABLE. Only thing I can do now is Dual 580's for $1k. Shouldn't these cards be playing Cataclysm at like 1000fps? Alas, the experience is better. 500$ better.....yes.

Guys! look at my EPEEN!
Also, I realized the 2500k isn't for me. The i5-750 has 8mb of L3, the 2500k only has 6mb, something which I never before realized. I will never buy a proc with lower L3 cache anymore....as it does come into play at times.
One thing about consoles that is nice for my ocd personality, is the only thing to focus on is the game. The performance isn't in question. However even with 500$ EPEEN, performance can still come into question.

You should try playing Dragon Age 2, it will emasculate any hardware on max. Easily dips down to 15-20fps during dynamic lighting/smoke/fire scenes on a pair of 6970s.

are you sure you are not referring to the nvidia bug that made it have atrocious performance? they fixed that one and got over 5x the speed. AFAIK you can max it with top of the line nvidia and AMD hardware.

Buy 2 of these MSI lightning gtx580's overclock each card to 900 core @ 71c and be done with it. :) No 2 gpu's will be faster at 1080p.

Nope. It's just a terrible lighting system. When you get to the heavy lighting scenes like Flemeth's 1st cameo, Fenris' first appearance, Marithari in the Kirkwall House, and the room in the Blooming Rose with several dozen candles, you can tell, because the video card fan starts ramping up like crazy. Just a bad engine.

I am unsurprised considering the issues with mass effect and DA (on all platforms, PC, Xbox360, and PS3...)

Orgimmar still takes a giant dump on my FPS. Down to 40fps and jittery as hell. That's what 500$ worth of GPU buys you. My CPU is no slouch.
edit: there are other factors at play. heat. jittering is being caused by something else. trying to track it down.
essentially these are really good cards. I got two 6970's for hundreds less, and in crossfire beat out the latest kings. I'm pretty happy with it.

The best upgrade for WOW is an Intel SSD to install the game to. This will bump up the responce time and will keep the game a lot more stable on your end.

The only other thing you could do it get a NIC that off loads TCP meaning Intel or a Killer 2100.

System is as follows:
i5-750 @ 4.2Ghz
Crossfire 5770's
8gB DDR3 1600
Corsair 850
Asus P7P55D Deluxe.

Looking for extra performance in games. Honestly there aren't many games right now I can't run at 60fps at 1920*1200 maxed. Games such as Civilization 5 aren't 60fps though. I also have a hankering to upgrade. At this point in time what would net me more performance. Upgrading to dual 460's or a 580? (or ATI equivalent) or upgrading to a Sandy Bridge for massive oC. There is also the option of waiting.

Thanks.

Take out that 5770 plonk a Gtx 580 in there
