For me it's on hero bread but it's a sub sandwich if it's normal cold cuts, but if it's from like a real Italian deli it's a hero.

This just reads like a "list of reasons why the Atlantic northeast in general, and New York specifically, suck."

Seriously, it's just a list of a dozen different things people in New York call a sandwich.

Only here can you get the best sandwiches and Italian Heros, so no you have absolutely zero clue what you are talking about. Here we have nuance. Y'all are just savages.

Nothing about this was about the quality of the sandwich the whole thing was presented as different names for the same (or similar) things.

Provided they've got the "quality" part covered I couldn't care less what they decide to call them. (although "sub" is the moniker I've heard most often)

The school dietician would list hoagies on the lunch menu. All us midwestern kids were like, "WTF is a hoagie?"

Sub or hoagie for me. Either one works but i usually order a sub.

Never heard of these before:
“Wedge”
“Spuckie”
“Blimpie”
“Spiedie”
“Gondola”
“Zeppelin”
“Sarnie”

Some pizza places have something called a wedge. It can be cold cuts or pizza but it's stuffed into a shell of bread, maybe more like a large pita.

There is a sandwich chain named Blimpie, but the number of them appears to have been steadily declining over the last couple decades. Weird, because they were better than Subway, and Jersey Mike's seems to be doing pretty well.

We had one here and I liked it. But it didn't last.

Blimpies were around Jersey and still are. They were pretty good back in the day but don't have the kind of quality control that Jersey Mike's seem to have. Blimpie did it the same way, sliced the meats fresh to order unlike Subway. It was a pretty good Jersey style sub. I have one down the street from me I should probably see if it's any good. I'm also surrounded by some of the best Italian Delis in the NYC metro area but that is more for cured meat sandwiches with fresh mozz made every day. That stuff is sublime though.

I dated a chick from upstate NY and she always thought it was so funny that people from CT called it a grinder. First time a customer asked for a meatball grinder all she could think they wanted was this:

I didn't care for Blimpies' bread.

Just went and grabbed a Blimpie from them since I looked online and the reviews were really good. Everything was fresh, good portions, but agreed, the bread was a weak point. For a chain, Jersey Mike's has much better bread.
