Sandra and memory modules

Mode4

Junior Member
Quick question. Playing around with Sandra today in mainboard settings and noticed it is either mis-indentifying one of my memory modules or I was sold a stick of mismarked memory.

Anyone know how accurate that readout from Sandra is? I recently bought some CAS2 memory from Mushkin and this is the module that Sandra identifys as CAS3. Perhaps I should run this through Mushkin?

Thanks

Sandra cannot sometime recognize ram. I have a stick of Mushkin rev3 and Sandra says it does 133mhz cas2 but it does 150mhz cas2. It probably recognizes ns's and determines how fast it can go.

It says both my PC133 cas 2 Infineon sticks can only run PC133 CL3 or PC100 CL2. But it runs fine at 149Mhz CL2

depends what the spd rating (spd, right?) is...most chips can do well over their spd ratings...

however, if mushkin's specifications show it rated pc133 CL2 then that's what th spd should be as well - if not, u don't have their officially specific pc133 CL2, or sandra is misreporting it...

check the number on the chips and contrast it with mushkin's specifications to identify the ratings of the chips...

Thanks for the responses. Everything works with CAS2 settings, so I'm not going to worry about it. Just kind of shocked when I saw the report, since it nailed my other stick dead on.

I have 5 sticks of the Mushkin Rev. 2. Sandra identifies 3 of them as cas3 and 2 of them as HSDRAM. Coincidentally, the 2 identified as HSDRAM are the 2 newest I have and they have the black PCB, the other 3 are older and are green PCB.

Sometimes Sandra says I've got 1 32meg and 1 64meg when I've got 2 256meg sticks I'll exit reboot then reports the right ram readings. On a clean boot reports right but not after running any kind of app funny huh?Don't read too much into what Sandra says, also reports cpu fan rpms when I use a four pin connector with my FOP38 and nothing connected to any fan header!:frown:
