This seemed very strange to me. I have two Hard drives. A WD1200JB 120GB HD and A Maxtor 30GB HD. Both are 7200RPM. WD has 8MB cache, and Maxtor has 2 MB cache. When I run Sandra 2002 file system bench, the results are so different. I have both HDs connected on the same cable with WD as primary and maxtor as slave. Here is my result.
Primary WD1200JB C drive : 31,369
Slave Maxtor D drive: 19,683
WD1200JB 2nd partition E drive: 24,000
Thing is, before I bought WD1200JB, I had Maxtor as Primary and used to get 24,000 on Sandra bench. So why such drop in speed when the drive is acting as slave? Is this normal on any HD acting as slave?
Also, on the 2nd partition of my WD1200JB drive, Sandra reports slower as well, I get 24,000. Why is it this way?
Can anyone clearify this?
