I'm wondering if it's possible to delete the entire U3 software? I attempted to format the drive but that didn't help. Upon inserting the drive again the drive automatically reinstalled the U3 software. I really don't need all that extra stuff and just want it for storage to take files to and from home to work.

Well by searching Google I found an answer to my question. Now, there is another question that I have. My old 256 model's light would stay on constantly when plugged in unless transferring a file to and from the thumbdrive. Now, with this 1GB model, the light blinks on and off. Is this normal or is it possibly defective?
 
I've got the 512 version and yes, the light is steady on unless it is being accessed. As for the installed software, I just deleted them one at a time. Maybe yours is different since it is a 1GB.
 
Is your light green or blue? The blue one is the older model whereas the green is the newer. I do not see why they would change the light though. I'm thinking my thumbdrive is just defective. I'll be returning it to BBY tomorrow.
