looks like prices on CF cards are droping. To think less than a month ago the 512MB Ultra II was the same price as the 1GB card is today. Glad I didn't bite then. I'll pick this up later next week. Thanks rasputinj.

for those 2GB Type 1 cards, are they gauranteed to work in existing digicams?

I think the digicam is the bottleneck, not the card.
I mean, it's the camera that has to be able to support that size.
All DSLR can handle 2GB or more but most P&S probably can not handle more than 2GB.
Check with your camera maker for compatibility.

If you have a camera that can take advantage of the high speed cards the Sandisk Ultra II's are the way to go.

As someone on chubbywallet pointed out the 1GB card is a so-so deal (check pricegrabber and a couple of vendors have the same price) but the 2GB Ultra II card for $160 is a smoking deal (lowest price on pricegrabber is $348). However the 2GB Ultra II shows up as "On Order" which we all know can be a black hole at buy.com.

Wow, these prices are dropping like crazy. Just 3 weeks ago I bought my father-in-law two of the 512meg UltraII cards for his new Nikon D70. I shopped around and saw that the price for 2x512 was about the same as the 1gig cards. I ended up ordering from newegg and I think I paid around $150 for the two cards. Amazing that the price has come down $60 or so in 2-3 weeks.

The Ultra II was the pick for my D70 since the Extreme is way to rich for my blood.

A Nice tool for CF Performance with DSLR

It's always nice to see the price of media fall. :D

I ordered one of these last Thursday (Sept. 9). At that time, and though to Sunday, the item was listed as in stock and would ship in 1 to 2 days.

Yesterday, I get the email from Buy.com that they are still "trying" to get my order out.

Also yesterday, the $95 Sandisk CF 1GB Ultra II was listed as out of stock BUT there was another listing for Sandisk CF 1GB Ultra II, with the same Sandisk number, for $165 or so that WAS listed to be in stock.

I have saved copies of both web pages.

This morning, there was NO listing for any Sandisk CF 1GB Ultra II at all.

I wonder if they are backpeddling.

I am still waiting for my 19" Hitachi monitor.
