Been looking for one of these. In for one.

Hopefully, the mp3 player I'm getting this for didn't die when I got it wet earlier. I'll find out in a few days.

hands down best microsd card. and a great price for the capacity! even if other cards will show faster throughput, this card can random write and read like a heavyweight champ. i use it to run android on my winmo phone.... its awesome!

This is a class 4 card, correct? How do those speeds you mention compare to a reliable/true class 10 card?

from all the things i read, it really doesnt matter unless you get a sandisk class 10 card. also, the class rating only specifies how fast the cards write. its common to have class 4 cards read at the same speeds as class 10's.

but where the sandisk really murders all others is the random read/write. basically, its overall performance is tops. thats why these cards are regularly noted as the only brand you should get if youre running programs or os's off the card.

now if youre just going to load up a bunch of mp3's and usually do nothing but read from the card, then any brand will perform similarly... however sandisk is also known for high reliability, and when you factor in the price (on par with other brands), its a no brainer.

Note this is the card only (the version witht he sd to micro sd tends to be around $32). This price is more or less what the card has been selling ofr the past couple of months (I started checking nearly daily since the samsung micro sd (class 10) dropped to $35 @ frys.

Mind you the price oscillate day to day (I paid $30.81 2/03/12 for the class 4 sandisk with micro to sd adapter; and $34.99 for the samsung class 10 on 1/31/12). Been kind of wondering if these would drop below $25 any time soon.

Anyone know if this version is actually different than the version which is not expliclty marked water proof/temperature proof? I suspect they are the same but not sure.

Not sure how relevant the random 4K speeds are unless you are using these as a slow ssd. I suspect if you use them in that mode they would quickly decay - but I should check with a friend who is more knowledgeable in that area (I mostly use mine for video - can only fit a few 720P mkv on them).

Kind of amusing that the 16GB version is 1/2 the read speed of the 32GB version. Interesting table.

This is not exactly true. The class speed specified the mininum read/write speed. Older class 2 cards (for example) could not achieve the same read speed as class 10. The problem with the class specification is that it is voluntary system (vendors can rate the cards as they please and no organization is going to enforce that the mininum requirements are met).

thanks. i did explain that a little off. youre right in that the key point is the class ratings are about as meaningful as american tv's 'good' 'better' 'best' ratings
