Would sanding the fins of a heatsink with a coarse-grained sandpaper give it slightly more surface area, and thus slightly better heat dissipation?

no, it will be so small and insignificant im sure you wont notice any difference at all. i dont remember the exact calculations to figure out the dissipation rate, but im pretty sure what you are asking wont help bring it down even a degree.

Slightly. VERY slightly. Probably like a fraction of a degree that MBM5 wouldn't be able to detect.

Oh, and your quote in your sig:
"My son isn't a communist. He may be a drunk, a pig, a bad father, a communist, but he is not a homosexual."

I believe it was "...he is not a porn star." And I think he was liar, not a pig. :p

Jeff, is it? I looked up the quote online, but it could be wrong. Which episode is it from? I'll look it up on SNPP.

*EDIT
OK, I changed it. This is what SNPP.com was saying.

I checked Google too, and found quite a few iterations of it. I guess that site (SNPP.com) would know it best though. :)
