So Trump accepted a challenge to a duel from a guy who's on death row? To what purpose, other than keeping his name up in lights?

He's def got chutzpah. I figure Bernie would rip into him like an enraged wolverine. What will it do to his macho image if Bernie chews him up?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Geez, we best keep that enraged wolverine out of the presidential election. Wouldn't want him ripping Trump apart where it counts.

He also doesn't gain from making an offer he has no intention of keeping.

We'll see. Trump is so full of himself that he might actually do it. Hell, Bernie might use the opportunity to endorse Clinton while denouncing Trump for being a completely unqualified jerk.

Surprise, asshole!

The Repubs are dying to run against Bernie rather than Clinton because he's extremely vulnerable at the level of the general election. If Democrats in general aren't ready for Bernie's revolution it seem unlikely that the rest of America will be. Fortunately, it doesn't look like we'll be assaulted by non-stop raving about him being a Commie & too radical for America-

We'd see that & worse 24/7. Democrats are wise to decline what really would be a quixotic quest at this point. Love him as we might, Bernie is simply unelectable in today's America.

So pick it- Hillary, or the most magnificent con man to disgrace American politics during the modern era.

Snopes calls False on the meme

Personally, I'd much rather see Sanders and Trump having an impromptu discussion outside a local Starbucks one-on-one, where no paparazzi or news cameras are present.

The tone of such an encounter intrigues me. The possibilities of what could actually transpire really makes me wish for it to happen.

When did potential Repub voters ever fact check anything?

I knew it was bullshit when I posted it. They never will & the people they listen to would be shoveling a lot more in on top of it. They'll go Joe McCarthy on Bernie so fast & so hard it'll make your head spin.

Uhh I see. So whether it's true or not doesn't matter, it's a useful meme for criticizing because others will fall for it?

Seems rather weak.

Its a win for everyone in my opinion. Trump gets even more free publicity, Bernie gets some as well and Clinton gets to avoid what is surely to be a clown show.

Clinton knows that laying low is the best way to go. Less exposure the better for her. The coronation will be complete soon enough.

All she has to do is stay low until November and pick up the keys to the Whitehouse on January.

The fun will be the 4 years of Scandals, Win/Win. We get the Trump/Hillary debates which will be pure entertainment.

Then 4 years of insane scandals to keep the markets nice and volatile, option premiums will be nice and fat.

It would hurt Hillary if that happened.

That's not the point (and when have the Republicans ever let the truth stand in their way anyway). You have to know that a self described socialist with a history of actually being a socialist will not be elected in the United States in the foreseeable future. You're more likely to see President Bristol Palin than see a socialist get elected.

It's not like the socialist thing is some new dirt. He's polling well despite it being pretty established.

Hehehehe, the country's democracy has been stolen by the rich and everybody is terrified of socialism. Zombies from sea to shining sea.

[long answer deleted] Believe what you will. Based on my understanding of the US and it's history I believe that if Sanders wins the nomination he loses badly even against an odious piece of human trash like Trump. The United States at large is nowhere close to being able to accept a socialist president.

Hell, you wouldn't accept a Catholic president until the 1960's. A Socialist (non practicing) Jew in 2016? Nah.

Not only that, but when Polled Americans actually like the types of programs Sanders is proposing.

Atheists come ahead of socialists and that's without the efforts that you know the G.O.P. and it's supporters/backers would be making 24/7 to defeat the 'evil commie'.

Also the lowest choice for registered Democrats (although, at 59%, not too bad)

and even by age although, again, not bad for the under 30s - the ones who don't tend to actually vote. Check the percentages of the ages that do vote.

Then they wake up and realize what they'll cost and say fvck no. Part of being a grownup is realizing that fairy tales are exactly that and no rich Prince Charming is coming around to rescue you.

Ho hum. It's not like there are no functioning examples of what he proposes or anything. The status quo is the fairy tale and is failing before your eyes.

Just like THE WALL, Donald is getting everyone all stirred up and excited over something that will never happen.
The only way Donald will do this is if he could set all the rules and make it so bazaar that nothing of substance would come from it.
And after Donald demands all his rules be met, then Sanders would never agree.
If Donald can not create a total circus out of the event, he would never do it.

Not surprising to find out that Sanders is a major asshole given how he treats his employees.

Though Sanders has spent much of his life fighting for working Vermonters, they say he mistreats the people working for him.

"As a supervisor, he was unbelievably abusive," says one former campaign staffer, who claims to have endured frequent verbal assaults. The double standard was clear: "He did things that, if he found out that another supervisor was doing in a workplace, he would go after them. You can't treat employees that way."

Criticism of Sanders' leadership abilities is nothing new. Steve Rosenfeld, a former Vermont journalist who served as Sanders' press secretary during his 1990 House campaign, wrote a book about his first successful statewide bid. In Making History in Vermont, Rosenfeld levels a tough assessment at his former boss, who passed him over for a congressional job at the campaign's end.

"At his best, Sanders is a skilled reader and manipulator of people and events," Rosenfeld wrote. "At his worst, he falls prey to his own emotions, is unable to practice what he preaches (though he would believe otherwise) and exudes a contempt for those he derides, including his staff."

Rosenfeld quotes Sanders himself in the book as saying, "Some people say I am very hard to work with. They say I can be a real son of a bitch. They say I can be nasty, I don't know how to get along with people. Well, maybe there's some truth to it."

And some who worked for Hillary say she's not exactly an angel either...

This sort of thing probably comes up for a lot of people in high leadership roles. Even if they're not really very mean people there's bound to be some among the many who have worked with them who have been left with a bad impression. And the media will always find the most negative voices to sensationalize.
