I've had a lot of people on my friend's list recommend using Sandboxie for easy trading between alt accounts, but I've never used it before. Can someone give me some more information on the pros and cons of Sandboxie and Steam?

I have never used Sandboxie for Steam. Sbie has been reliable over the years but sometimes an update to Sandboxie or the app I run in the sandbox gets updated and things can break. If that happens you'll have to troubleshoot and/or ask one or the other to fix the problem.

If you search for what you want to do there is plenty of information. A quick search came up with these links.

Thanks for the information. The only problem I've been running into with Steam is that when I use the Sandboxed copy to play certain games, it constantly gives me popup warnings about files being saved outside the Sandboxed area and asks permission to move them. For now, I'm just using Sandboxie for trading and helping my Dungeon Defenders group while I play Witcher 3 or something else on my main account. So far this seems to be working without having to make a copy of the SteamApps folder, but only time will tell if something major screws up.

Did you setup the sandbox like the instructions in the last link? You may need to setup permissions to write outside the sandbox to certain areas. For example I allow bookmarks and ad block filters to be written to my ssd. It also may be a recovery setting that you need to tweak so it doesn't bother you.

I set it up according to this guide which was wrote by one of the people in charge of the Community Development Team for Dungeon Defenders. I spoke to him while setting it up, but I never got around to asking about The Witcher 3 asking for permission to move files. Since it seemed sketchy at the time, I just opted to exit the game and swap my main and my alt accounts so that I can play Witcher 3 as my main copy of Steam and leave my alt for Dungeon Defenders on Sandboxie.

I'll definitely check out that last link again and see what differs between that and the link I supplied. If there's better information for getting other games to work while using Sandboxie, I'll change the settings around. The main thing I've noticed from a lot of people talking about using Sandboxie and Steam is that they all say to make a copy of your SteamApps folder and just allow SB to run from that source rather than your main Steam folder. Considering I keep Steam installed on its own SSD and I don't have tons of space to work with and the fact that I only keep a few games installed at any given time, due to my library being so large and the amount of games I've played in the past, my SteamApps folder is quite large and if I were to copy the folder, it would destroy my available space.

Sandboxing Steam, games and their drm has to be complicated. If you can't figure it out you can also always ask for help on sandboxie's forums. Good luck!
