San Jose Grand Prix

It was $25 today. A bit on the expensive side, but ok. As for parking, don't get suckered into parking in the downtown ($35). A couple of blocks away, and you can park for $15. A couple more blocks - and it's free. Lightrail ride to the downtown is free, so you can park 2 stations away. If you go with a friend, $15 for close parking is ok.

If you can get into KnightRidder building or Adobe - then yes. The problem is that the track is made out of concrete block that seprate median on the freeways. Cars have extremely low profile, so even while standing next to the track fence, you have a hard time seeing them (unless you sit in the stands). And the whole perimeter is fenced off on the outside. So, I doubt you can see anything from the ground level.

thanks for the 411... looks like I gotta fork over the $35 to check this out.

By the way, nice pic. What camera do you have?

I'm right here too, i thoguht it was going to be small time, but these guys are really cooking it! I had the opportunity to see it from one of the buildings too.

Thanks! It's a D70 with a 70-300 cheapo Nikkor zoom.
But the bastards set up double fence, so it was super hard to get any good shots. The second fence to fence off the public was so high, you had to either fork over mucho $$$ to get in the stands or find some stone step (and all of those were of course occupied by other photographers).

Did you see one guy in red car during the qualifications miss the 90-degree turn and run into the dead-end? Since they have no reverse he had to spin the car on the spot and get back on the track.
