San Francisco values-How will they affect the nation?

Now that the Democrats have won the election and Nancy Pelosi is poised to become the first woman speaker, how are SF values going to change the laws and policies of the Federal govt?
It is shocking how quickly fortunes can turn in politics. The left coast has gone from almost no power in Washington to tremendous power. I am looking forward to the next couple of years in politics.

San Francisco politics don't play out very well on the national stage...hell, they don't even play out very well across the entire state of California.

I welcome Boxer, Feinstein and Pelosi to simply be themselves and push their respective agendas. It will keep giving The Daily Show and South Park plenty of ammunition, and almost guarantee a very brief Democrat majority.

Pelosi is a liability.

Pelosi is actually considered a moderate in her home district. 🙂

Actually I believe it was said that there are a large number of people in her district that consider her to conservative for her district.

Not to mention, as much as people love to hate SF, it is the most popular city to visit in the US. Ask yourself why.

I live in her district and everything was plastered with Krissy Keefer stuff.

(To vote "warmonger" Pelosi out.)

I think Pelosi got booed out last time she spoke in front of city hall and call names like neocon etc.

Pelosi is not popular here, too centrist.

But everyone loves a winner, I'll bet they would throw her a parade in SF right about now.

Krissy Keefer speaking about "Pelosi, middle of the road dems, and San Francisco."

I am sure City Hall will do something annoying and pompous, Pelosi is ok I guess, if your into centrist dem stuff, I do agree with a lot of her ideas she has put forth so far though.

TBH, I am fine with Pelosi if she really is serious about "draining the swamp", first get some accountability and start the investigations Conyers has been working on already and let the chips fall where they may.

There will be no investigations....plz wake up before you post...thx

San Francisco values are way way to the right. San Francisco is very conservative. It's probably a bit more moderate than anywhere else in the country though, or close. Berkeley is probably a tad more to the left, for example.

But you have to understand we have real radio here. We gots Bernie Ward on KGO and KQED forum program and the World Affairs Council and of course Ray Taliaferro on at 1:00 am. We get some small measure of light and not all the darkness of Corporate controlled national media. In short, just about every where you go but the Bay Area, their's nothing much but ignorance and propaganda. There is still some LSD in the soil.

I for one am totally looking forward to everyone on the government's payroll being able to get a sex change operation for free...those are the San Francisco values I love. Instead of helping to pay for a new stadium for the Giants or 49ers which would bring in millions in revenues and rejuvenate rundown areas, they'd rather spend it on that...

?? Pelosi won 80% of the vote in her district. I wish I was that unpopular...

I guess "here" means the couple of streets in your neighborhood?

There are numerous third world countries that are lovely to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there...I think the same dynamic applies to San Francisco.

And for the record, I put San Fran up there with Boston, San Diego and Seattle as one of my favorite cities...I just happen to prefer Boston liberals to west coast liberals.

Yes, the majority of american (*gasp* even San Franciscans) are moderate and did vote for Pelosi, I am saying in the activist community of SF. (Which is the big thing people are afraid of I assume when people talk of "San Francisco Values")

Moonbean is pretty dead on though saying SF the city itself is pretty tame, we lost our "kook city" feel in the 90's through gentrification and yuppie dot-com boom overrun.

Still some bohemein types holed up, but most have been driven off by skyrocketing housing costs.
