San Francisco people

I'm coming up on the big 3-0, and have about 55 people who'd like to get together and have a fun bday party with me.

The question is: where? I don't want to sell a kidney to have a good time. My requirements are pretty basic: decent food (doesn't have to be super fancy, but good and solid), a place to dance and, of course, alcohol.

A backroom at a bar would probably be ideal. But I don't know much about bars in SF - I live in the South Bay.

So, help me out!
Thanks.

I like how you mention you're gonna invite 50+ people you barely know to some party, then wanna have a good time on the cheap. The only way you can do this is by hosting a BBQ at somebody's house and buy your own food/liquor. Anytime you wanna entertain at a bar/restaurant, you're looking at getting bent w/o lube.

Just be careful if someone says "hey, do you need help pushing in your stool?"
I found out the hard way 😱

Are you going to invite 50 people out to dinner or 50 people to party afterwards. If you want to do just the party afterwards I'd suggest Mr. Smith's Link to Yelp Review. I threw a birthday party for myself a year ago there and invited 100+ people... Great venue you can get the mezzanine level reserved for just you and your friends for 200 (bottle service included). Free cover for everyone before 11 as well.

Doing dinner for 50 people though, that's going to be pricey if you plan to pay for everyone...

Who said anything about strangers? These are all people I know very well.

Who said anything about cheap? There are reasonable amounts of money I'm willing to spend ($1k or so) and unreasonable amounts ($2.5k and more)

Enjoy your salad.

O'Ferrell's Theatre is always a good bet.

O'Farrell theater with the painted aquarium in front and side of the building?

Yes - one side is a rainforest, the other is an underwater scene.
