I don't see the big deal, as many others have pointed out.. the sidewalk is no place for them. They're considered the same as any other scooter, bike, moped, whatever...

I'm sure they'll do the same thing here in Oregon.
 
Those Segways are stupid and whoever thaught of making money with those must have been an idiot. Who on earth would spend 5000+ bucks on a vehicle that cant be driven on the streets and looks like its gonna have u make the gravity test as soon as u step on it? Especially when u can get a Smart for only like 3000 more bucks, and that at least has two Seats, a ROOF and and is safe - oh, and it drives 6 times as fast if u dare
