San Diego...what to do there?

So, Southwest has cheap RT tickets to SD today and so I bought one for next weekend. I haven't been since I was 10-years old with my family so it'll basically all be new to me.

Can anyone tell me what the typical things are to do there? I'll do more research on my own but this'll get the touristy things out of the way. Where to go, what to see, where to eat, etc.

If anybody wants to meet up at night (or during the day), LMK. I just plan on having a nice relaxing mini vacation.

Thanks!

edit: Okay, so I booked the Sheraton Suites on priceline, decent rate, location's okay. I did a search and saw that the SD Bike Shop is right down the street - would it be worth it to rent a bike for a few hours/day to ride around the city? I'll have a rental car, but that was mostly just to get to Stone Brewery.

Any suggestions on a good independent local restaurant to try out? Can be "cheap" or pricey, I just want good food.

If it's going to be clear get a mojito and watch the sun set from the deck of the Hotel Del Coronado.
Bring a jacket though, it gets chilly after dark.

meh, I'm flying from Phoenix so I could always just do that drive. And I'll be by myself, I'd do that sort of thing with a group.

Looks like touristy stuff during the day and then bars/clubs at night for me. Dunno about the beach if it's 60 degrees out.

So far, a whale's vagina and donkeys have been suggested. OT is typically a little more helpful. :p

In that case, I don't know if I'll do it...depends on what else there is to do in the city I suppose. I'll only have Saturday and Sunday, since I get in at 8:50PM.

It's worth the visit if that kind of stuff interests you.

I spent the better part of 3 hours climbing around and inside of this a couple weeks ago: Text

I'm looking into brewery tours...I know that Stone is out there but is there any way I can get out to Escondido (other than a cab) if I don't have a car? Looks like a lengthy ride...I might stick to the breweries in town even though I really want to see Stone.

Rent a car. You'll need it. Otherwise, look into MTS (the bus system is pretty good usually) and the Coaster to get around. Pretty cheap compared to a cab.

But yeah. Pretty much the only things around here are Stone Brewery, I think Karl Straus has one out here too (I like their Amber Lager), the Midway, Balboa Park, some museums, maybe a walk around Coronado, Pacific Beach, and hitting bars in Pacific Beach and the gas-lamp district (just don't be a gas-lamp douche. haha). beaches are nice but the water is cold for the climate. we get the currents off of Alaska. other than that, San Diego is pretty boring. Nice place with nothing to do.
