san diego / southern CA people...

From what I read, it seems like an ok place. It's a few places that has new housing. As for how expensive it is, I don't know for sure. It's certainly much more affordable than a lot of places in San Diego. As for crime, I don't know about Chula Vista, but my grandparents lived in San Diego on the edge of National City (north of Chula Vista), and it was a rough area. But as with any area, there can be pockets of decent areas and areas that aren't. Have you tried looking at Realtor.com to see what kind of housing you can find there?

Hopefully the San Diego members can give you more in-depth information than I can.

Supposed to be $200k for the condos there. I think it was like $10k down. Friend of my bro is there and he's looking to do the same... just trying to see if he's making a good decision since I have you guys to ask, and he doesn't.

sorry don't know that. The further north, the better, right ?

oh, I thought you had some picked out already. 🙂 I dunno about that, further north is national city. If it was a little closer Id go around and take a few pictures for ya. 🙁

National City = teh ghetto for the most part.

Chula Vista is a pretty nice area, however. Lots of new housing down there, although traffic will be a bitch since you've got your choice of using the 5 or 805 freeways, both of which suck during rush hour. I lived in Imperial Beach just west of Chula Vista for a while and traffic was always a pain in the ass on 5.

I would guess it's probably a lot more affordable than most places in San Diego since you're not as close to the metro area. The cost of living sucks unless you're willing to commute like I do (I'm 30 minutes to the east of San Diego, but the benefits of where I live make it so worth it to me).

What's that supposed to mean to us ?
nonsense . . . Chula Vista is UPscale . . . kinda Yuppie, really. 😉

National City would be cheaper. . . . South SD perhaps cheaper still . . . . IB is the cheapest "beach community" . . .
(not that there is any place in San Diego that is "cheap")

and traffic suck everywhere in SD (for the past 15 years or so) 😛

(you might be around some "gang territory" in these areas) 😉

Im not sure...don't get me wrong, Chula Vista has some nice parts, but La Jolla is yuppie and you just can't say that they are the same.

La Jolla is UPscale, not yuppie. UTC might be yuppie; Tierrasanta thinks it is; Scripps Ranch definitely is.
