San Andreas rating changed to AO

While I can appreciate that the ESRB did this to save themselves from the world from the horror that would be Congress legislating their own "ratings" board into existance, I simply CAN'T agree with the fact that ratings can be based on things that were DROPPED FROM THE PRODUCT.

Even without the porn mod, that game should proabably be rated Adult Only, in my opinion. I laugh while playing it but I think it's way too derogatory and 'wrong' for teenagers.

one would assume so, have not looked into. might seeing as I just got the ps2 version.

Rated M=17, Rated R=17. There is nothing more derogatory in that game vs other rated R movies. I'd like to see you justify that position. Do I really need to link to movies with similar content?

Content is dropped from games ALL THE TIME, but the complexities of actually removing code without breaking compilation is sometimes such that it's better just to leave it there, but disabled, for fear of causing bugs or adding months to development time. Removing textures and graphics from finished libraries is also sometimes difficult and can require further debugging. Would you rather spend thousands of dollars on development costs to TAKE SOMETHING OUT, or flip a boolean so it doesn't show up anymore?

to me it would depend on thee legal end. look at what they have to do now because of this. I'm sure the programmers that did this are getting a quiet talking to

Exactly. There is nothing in it that isn't in some R rated movies. AO ratings should be reserved for the equivalent of an X rated movie imo.

No argument there. There are many movies that I feel should have stricter ratings. I tend to agree with other parts of the world that violence and gore is worse than nudity and sex. Yes, I realize the GTA argument is based on sex/porn. My feelings are based on the violence in the game.

If the game were made into a movie that captured the spirit of the game, it would definitely be NC-17. I also think it probably deserved an AO rating. Mostly because there is a huge difference between it and most other M games.

And...most places that do sell it probably will not card a child for buying a video game. I know when i was 16 i had no problem buying any thing I wanted

As to the question of whether Hot Coffee was actually included with the game but not actually enabled, Rockstar has addressed this directly for the first time, according to US website GameSpot - which reports that a representative of the company told them directly that the Hot Coffee code is not included on the GTA game discs.
