Apparently it will be for graphics cards. Check it out here. How much of a difference do you think this will make on a GF3 or the upcoming RadeonII? Any comments?

The Geforce2 Ultra uses 230MHz DDR which means it's effectively running at 460MHz. Therefore, 300MHz DDR = 600MHz effective.

the article isn't too clear...is it 300mhz with ddr...i doubt it because that's not impressive. i am assuming it is 300mhz that can run at an effective 600mhz with ddr implemented. that is impressive...

ledzepp98 Yeah, that was my assumption. Yes, it has to be 600MHz effective. Since they already have so much of the memory market share and they won't be producing these until the 3rd quarter, well, obviously if they didn't have a 300MHz (150ddr) already they wouldn't have so much of the market share already. And surely they wouldn't be bragging about being so far behind! They come across as pretty excited in the article, and confident that this will be the memory in the high-end graphics cards, so we're looking at 600MHz effective here. How do you guys think that will effect performance?

It won't be a 150Mhz clock, 300Mhz effective. That's just PC2400...that's no great news.

It must be 300Mhz clock, 600 effective.

Mr.Helpful...LOL! I was thinking along the same lines! So much for my "fast" PC133/1Gig system, eh? It's gonna be a paperwieght when all this Hardware Goodness hits the streets! Ah, the Computer Addiction...is there no cure? ;)

As I said in the other thread, it offers 30% more memory bandwidth than a GF2 Ultra, or ~9.5 GB/sec. If you paired this with a GF3 it would be unstoppable.

600ddr...toss that stuff in desktop systems..

Far too expensive I'm afraid.
