Check out XDA. Use Titanium Backup to backup your apps. Pain in the ass to reinstall them. At least it was for me. I had to do each one individually. Maybe the paid version lets you batch them easier.
running cognition 3.02 on my captivate and couldn't be happier.

Ok, I am ready to root my vibrant and put in a 2.2 rom on it.

What is the latest stable 2.2 rom? Best/easiest way to get it on my Vibrant? How to keep the 400 apps I have?

:)

You know... you DON'T have to root it to put 2.2 on it. Nor do you have to wipe it. I put the latest leaked 2.2 rom (KA2) on my phone and didn't have to do anything. All my data, apps, etc. was all still intact.

Ugh... I don't know if I will ever buy another Samsung phone. They have some terribly greedy tactics, even if their hardware is the best.

How? Last time I modded a phone was to put 1.6 on my behold 2 and that was a nightmare!

Yes. Paid version lets you do batch and you just sit back and drink your beer.

Samsung Mobile emailed Phone Scoop a brief statement to settle some of the rumors that have been flying about regarding the Android 2.2 update for its Galaxy S smartphones. One report suggested that the delay is being caused in part because Samsung wants carriers to pay for Android updates. Samsung says this is not true. Samsung wrote to Phone Scoop, "No. Samsung is not charging carriers for Froyo updates to Galaxy S. We hope to have more detail on status shortly. Promise!" Samsung has pushed back the Froyo update for its Galaxy S line of devices several times, leaving them stuck with Android 2.1. Samsung has sold more than 4 million Galaxy S handsets in the U.S.

I don't believe Samsung...

Is anyone really surprised at this? They do this all the time with each phone. Great hardware and poor software.

Want to update your Samsung phone? Just buy a new one.
