Samsung is under investigation by Taiwanese authorities over allegations that it used deceptive advertising practices in the country, the AFP reports. The company reportedly hired students to write negative remarks online about HTC and to post promotional content for itself. Though it's unclear what the actual content of these messages was, in a statement provided to The Verge, Samsung said that its Taiwanese branch "has ceased all marketing activities that involve the posting of anonymous comments." It believes that the incident was an error due to insufficient training, and that it is not consistent with Samsung's policies.

I doubt it. Just because some people like Samsung's phones, tablets, etc. doesn't mean they're a paid shill or astroturfing.

I have a Samsung Plasma TV that I think is quite good and would recommend it to others. That doesn't make me a hired plant.

It's possible that this was something done without the knowledge of the parent company. Wouldn't be the first time some branch division has done something stupid and caused trouble.

Lol Dari and Samsung hate.hey Dari does HTC pay you to post nothing but bad press about Samsung? Or are you still mad that they can buy lg 40x over and still be worth more then Sony.

There are some who almost exclusively post in MD&G and never anything critical about Samsung. They also have the same handle on other forums and do the same thing...

Yeah, that's because I'm not. If I was getting paid to talk bad about Samsung I wouldn't be praising them for some of the things they make. I just don't like two things about Samsung: their corruptive lack of ethics and morals (which is exactly what this article alludes to) and their OLED screens. Everything else is decent.

He does but you're on the opposite end of the spectrum. Your HTC One vs GS4 thread was just one where you tried to silence any critics. Look, there's fans everywhere. It doesn't take long for us to figure out which one of us here constantly posts negative news about Samsung, HTC, Blackberry, Apple, etc.
