Right now Samsung's 24" S-PVA in the SyncMaster 242MP gets handily beaten in every category by the 30" S-IPS in the Dell 3007WFP: http://www.lesnumeriques.com/duels.php?ty=6&ma1=36&ma2=88&mo2=92&p2=946&ph=6

I wouldn't hold my breath for the new 30" S-PVA, as it's going to be their worst nightmare finding a way to beat the LG Philips panel at this point. Despite them saying wide viewing angle, they mean wider than TN or previous S-PVA, but not wider than the S-IPS used in the Dell 3007WFP. Will the S-PVA have higher contrast? It very likely will, inherently, but that does not translate into more realistic renditions of colors, especially not midtones, very important in games. As far as we know, input lag is more likely on the S-PVA panels as well.

But this here is some cool stuff regarding TFTs: :Q

MPA/BFI technology (response time reduction)
Higher contrast, wider gamut (new CCFL phosphor), LED backlight
