Personally, I'd go with the Hanns-G 28" LCD given the same price. Now, consider that this has a $100 rebate and I think the Hanns-G takes the cake.

Supposedly the T260 does an above average job of rendering colors, at least among TN panels but a shiny turd is still a turd. Don't get me wrong, I have more than one TN panel, they're great for gaming but if you want accurate colors a TN panel, no matter how well implemented, is still a TN panel. Hence, I don't consider its slightly better colors a significant factor.

I think you're being a little hard on TN panels, when you should realize practically all LCD TV's use the same technology, and they're implemented in home theaters. Color reproduction is accurate enough for any task with the exception of hard core graphics design, or <1% of the average consumers.

Samsung has 3 year no questions asked warranty, no dead pixel guarantee, and knows their shit. Hanns-G is a Chinese company that occasionally gets lucky with the release of an average monitor. You could spend $100 more and get a DoubleSight PVA panel, but again, your getting some poorly engineered Chinese monitor. You get what you pay for. I'd take a Samsung TN monitor over any other, mostly because they intented the TN panel and know all the tricks. Think JVC VCR's. They invented VHS and their VCR's have consistantly had the best image reproduction.

No they don't. The high-end ones are mostly PVA, with IPS and MVA as well.

Only the small (sub-24") cheap sets are TN.

This one has no HDTV tuner, but the T260HD does.
In CA, you'll pay recycling fee!

Great deal for the non-self-important blowhards who are *not* working for Pixar or Adobe. 25.5 or 28 inches for $300 is a steal and a decent compromise.

The HannsG at Costco is now down to $50 rebate which makes it a $299 28" LCD. If it was $250, I'd take it over the Samsung. At $300, I'd need to see them to decide.

They're the same number of pixels, so essentially you're getting bigger pixels on the HannsG.

I'd go with the Samsung. The 2.5" doesn't really amount to more screen real estate without an increase in pixel count. Especially considering there's no real price difference and the better quality associated with Samsung.
